What To Expect

Dole Plantation

Next, we stop at Dole Plantation dedicated to Hawaii’s pineapple growing history. Shop for souvenirs at the Plantation Store and even taste a delicious frozen Dole Whip treat. As we head to Polynesian Cultural Center on the North Shore, we’ll pass by famous surfing beaches like Waimea Bay and Sunset Beach, where the world’s best surfers test their skills at championship tournaments in November and December.

North Shore

Our breathtaking voyage continues as we take in the valleys and cliffs of the emerald green Koolau Mountains and the rocky shoreline of South Oahu. You’ll be amazed by the incredible panoramic views from Nuuanu Pali Lookout, Makapuu Point, and Hanauma Bay.

Polynesian Cultural Center

Arriving at Polynesian Cultural Center, you’ll enter a world that celebrates the music, dance, and way of life on six Pacific Island nations: Hawaii, Tahiti, Samoa, Tonga, Fiji, and New Zealand. Explore a diverse spectrum of Polynesian traditions as you visit authentic villages for each nation. Meet Pacific islanders from across globe, listen to their stories and songs, and watch their joyful dances. I was able to experience my 2nd trip to Pearl Harbor on this vacation with this tour. It started with the USS Arizona, then the Dole Plantation, then the Polynesian Cultural Center. Our host quickly took us to the Pearl Harbor, Arizona Memorial early in the morning so he could pick up 2 more people at the airport. This gave us more time at the Memorial. Since I had already visited the Missouri and the Arizona a few days earlier, I quickly ran over to the Submarine Memorial, the submarine BOWFIN as well as the Submarine Museum. As a Veteran of the US Navy, we are able to get a discount on the ticket to the submarine and museum. Also, if you show your Veteran ID card at the Submarine snack shop, you can get a free lunch!!! Submarine Museum was incredible. My actual submarine USS Louisville was well displayed from our historic launch of missiles into Bagdad in 1991. I had enough time, I ran over and caught the ferry over to the USS Arizona, still impressive, even 3 days later. Dole Plantation was a rush, hardly any time at all, not enough time to even get some lunch (we were all starving). So we all just bought some snacks quickly and brought them on the shuttle with us for the drive over to the Polynesian Cultural Center. PCC was impressive and fun. As a group, we all went to the first two performances (Samoa and Tonga). Then we were on our own for 1 hour to eat or catch other shows. Our host, Shannon was very very informative as he drove us all around town. He was able to answer all of our questions all day. The worst part of this package is no lunch anywhere and really, no time for lunch was scheduled. Even having lunch at the PCC was difficult. I know my food took 28 minutes to be prepared.
