This is really a glorified Uber experience. We got picked up at the hotel promptly, then we stopped to pick up others. The van was comfortable, but packed. I donā€™t recall them asking for vaccine cards or negative covid tests. The guide said nothing on the way to Pearl Harbor and the ride took almost 25 minutes. That is plenty of opportunity to talk about the island, its people, history, economyā€¦.anything. But she said nothing. Then we got dropped off at Pearl Harbor for 2 hrs on our own. The USS Arizona was closed so 2 hours is a bit too long but we enjoyed it. 2 hours later we got back to the van and went to see Aloha Tower which is okay to miss. Again, guide provided 2 sentences on the tower. Boring. Finally we went to dow town to check out King Kamehameha statue and the palace across the street (going inside is a separate tour), this took 20 mins and the guide was not useful as she provided very little info. Then they dropped us off at our hotel. Overall, this was having an Uber for 4 hours. Just take you here and there and honestly, the only place worth seeing is Pearl Harbor. Iā€™d definitely not recommend. Look for a tour where guide talks while driving. Our guide literally did not say a word while driving 11 of us for at least an hour in the van. In the end, nobody tipped her, so I almost felt bad. Skip this tour. You get transportation to Pearl Harbor and back and not much else.

Mahalo for your review. We appreciate your ideas and recommendations. Please read our take on the situation: 1. Van was packed Our 14 passenger Mercedes vans are indeed comfortable. The day of your tour we had 13 guests, which means the tour was not fully booked. We would have been happy to take you on a private tour in one of our spacious luxury vehicles. It would just have been your group and the guide on the tour and you would have had the vehicle to yourself and even more space. 2. Asking for vaccine At the time of your tour you have to be vaccinated or show a negative covid test to even enter the state of Hawaii. We assume you as a tourist had to go through the same process as everybody else, thatā€™s why we donā€™t think itā€™s necessary to ask for proof again. We also ask our guests to wear their masks inside the vehicle - another layer of protection thatā€™s not required, but we want everybody to be safe. 3. Narration on the way to Pearl Harbor We contacted our guide and asked if she didnā€™t narrate. She admitted that she didnā€™t want to talk over the people having a conversation in the front. Thanks for bringing this up! We trained all our guides again using your review. As a tour guide it is important to include everybody in the conversation, provide information about Pearl Harbor on the 20 minute ride from Waikiki and to keep people engaged. We have microphones in our 14 passenger vans and she should have used it to lead the conversation, include everybody and provide information about Pearl Harbor. 4. Boat to USS Arizona not running Unfortunately the national park service informed us that they are having problems with the boat dock. This happens sometimes - safety first! Whenever it happens, we call our guests the day prior and allow them to cancel and get a full refund as a courtesy. Usually Viator / TripAdvisor does not refund cancellations within 24 hours of the tour start. Since we know for some people the boat ride is important, we allow and support these late refunds. However, even without the boat ride, the tour still takes about 5 hours and we give you more time to explore the very interesting museums at Pearl Harbor National Park. 5. Iā€™olani palace is a separate tour Yes, the Iā€™olani is a museum and they run their own tours. We highly recommend taking the time to visit and explore the only palace in the United States. Itā€™s a wonderful experience. Recommendation: get a personal tour with one of the Auntyā€™s or uncles! They know all the rumors and little secrets the palace has. So much better than the audio guide. 6. Better than UBER We are much better than just catching an UBER. - we are allowed to get you tickets to the boat ride to the USS Arizona (Uber drivers are not) - We are allowed to walk you into Pearl Harbor national park (Uber drivers are not) - we are allowed to give an introduction at Pearl Harbor and explain the national park to you, so you make the most out of your time at the park. (Uber drivers are not allowed to do that) - Our guides are trained and knowledgeable about the attack on Pearl Harbor, the island, the people and recent news (some Uber drivers might know about it, although itā€™s not their job) - our vehicles are more comfortable than most Uber vehicles (if you donā€™t like being on a van with others, just book our private tour and you have the van and driver to yourself for 6-7 hours - check it out on DanielsHawaii.com) 7. Only place worth seeing is Pearl Harbor It is sad you feel Hawaiian history is not important Karen. After all, you are visiting the home of Hawaiians and you Karen probably expect them to share ALOHA. We all here at DanielsHawaii think the least you can do is show some respect and interest in their culture. The Hawaiian culture is important to all of us here at DanielsHawaii and we are happy to share it with everybody. Come on tour with us and experience the REAL Hawaii and feel the Aloha. 8. Nobody tipped Thatā€™s just not true - you were the only one who didnā€™t tip. Yes, if you are just looking to get transportation to Pearl Harbor and back, a taxi / Uber is cheaper. If you need it even cheaper try the bus (~$5 round trip). The bus also makes lots of stops ;) We appreciate your review and hope you have safe travels to whatever place you call home. MUCH ALOHA

Unprofessional and impossible to contact. The day before our tour, the tour company emailed, cancelling the USS Arizona and Memorial Boat. I will say, these cancellations were not the fault of the tour company. The US Navy canceled the ability to visit them. However, the tour company elected to only provide the Pearl Habor Visitors Center and a bus tour of downtown - both which are free to the public. My family had been in Honolulu for 10 days at the time of this tour and had already visited all those sites. We started contacting Daniel's Tours immediately to cancel. They were not accepting calls, did not reply to emails, texts or telephone messages. The day of the trip, she finally called only to provide me the time of pickup (which we did not have until late the night before the trip). I informed her that we had been trying to contact them regarding the trip. She basically said I was lying. There was no record of my calls, emails or text. After several moments of her screaming at me, she finally said she saw the email from me but she was too busy doing her job to open the email. She still refused to refund our $543. We spoke to a couple locals regarding the Tour Company. They did not recommend them. According to those individuals, you paid a lot and received very little, as everything they provide (except the bus and driver) are free of charge.

Aloha and Mahalo for your review. We take reviews seriously, even though yours is full of false claims. We are happy to correct these wrong statements: 1. Contacting customers We texted you at 938am the day before the tour that the national park service suspended the boat ride. You tried to contact us 7(!) hours later, when our office was closed. 2. Wake up call Every morning we call our customers to confirm the pickup time and location, thatā€™s when you answered the phone and told us you wanted to cancel. About an hour before the tour starts. 3. Cancellation TripAdvisor has a 24 hour cancellation policy. As long as you cancel more than 24 hours before the tour starts, you will get a full refund. We usually support that refund request, even if it is within the 24 hours - until today we were never contacted by TripAdvisor/Viator regarding your refund request. Unfortunately your cancellation came in so late that either TripAdvisor decided not to refund you or you simply never contacted them to request your refund. Why is that important? TripAdvisor/Viator handles the payment. Only they can refund you. We tour operators get paid about a week or up to a month after the tour operated. 4. Screaming customer service The lady you spoke within our customer service team is 64 years old. Sheā€™s trained and very calm - we doubt that she was yelling and screaming. There was also no reason for her to scream, because it was just a normal refund request. She told you to call TripAdvisor to request your refund - which you most likely didnā€™t, because they never got in touch with us asking if we were ok with the refund. 5. Locals recommend us First of all, locals donā€™t go on tours with tour companies to Pearl Harbor, because they are locals and can drive there themselves ;) Second of all, the overwhelming majority of our reviews are 5 Star reviews. We are one of the highest rated tour companies in Hawaii. DanielsHawaii is considered one of the best tour companies on Oahu for small group and private tours. We take pride in our work. We love to share ALOHA. We are aware of our extraordinary honor being a part of your vacation in Hawaii. Dear Sallie, we apologize things didnā€™t go the way you planned. If it would have been in our power to help you, we would have been happy to do so. Much Love and Aloha - have a happy new year.
