,there were a number of things wrong with the tour:
-At the last minute, they texted us that it went from being a small group tour to a larger group tour with no opportunity for a refund
-The pick up was exceptionally early, and we didn’t even get to the first site for almost an hour.
-The bus was open air, which would’ve been fine, except that we couldn’t understand a lot of what the Tour Guide was saying over the speaker system.
-They had sent several emails/texts that you can’t bring any kind of bag to either of the sites. But some people ignored the reminders, and we had to spend extra time at drop off and then again later, waiting for them to drop off their belongings in private locker facilities.
-We were picked up at 6:40 AM, and didn’t get home until almost 230. A lot of time spent in traffic, and some driving around the city to see some sites from bus, or trying to…
-over 50 people on the tour, and one had a very young infant who screamed almost the entire drive home
If anyone in your party has mobility issues, the USS Missouri won’t work for them. You can walk through several decks of the battleship, but in order to go from one to another, there are very narrow ladder- like stairs. It is only about a 10 minute drive from the USS Arizona, but you have to pass through security in your vehicle to drive over to Ford Island. There are some food truck/ hot dog 🌭 hamburg and other snack/drinks items there.
At the USS Arizona site, there is a lot of information to see and watch and read, and no mobility issues at all for anyone. The food and drink options there are very limited, so I suggest byo snacks and bringing water bottles. There is a boat that brings you to the USS Arizona site, and they can accommodate everyone comfortably.
Auntie Mary was a good driver; it was too hard to hear her on the open air trolley bus. She did bring us malasadas after the first site— they were delicious!
