Overview

Petrópolis a city in Rio de Janeiro State also known such as Imperial City. It was the first planned city construction of Brazil and modern world in 19th century. The Imperator Dom Pedro II, in 1843 made the region as his summer staying, ten years later in 1853 the first brewery of Brazil was founded in Petrópolis, but in 1898 was renamed Bohemia.

It was nice to heard the history of Crystal Palace but it was disappointed to see it empty. This was show to us doing the Petropolis tour, who was knowledgeable and very nice lady. But the crystal Palace should been displayed different.

We had a wonderful time and learned a lot about some of the imperial history and its influences on the region. All stops were informative. The church stop was perfect but too short (being Catholic). I thoroughly enjoyed the brewery tour and could’ve used more time there (being a beer enthusiast). The chocolate stop was a treat since lunch buffet did not come with dessert (I’ve noticed the same at other buffets in Copacabana). Overall, it was a great day and the tour guide (can’t remember his name, maybe Luigi) was awesome! High energy, enthusiastic about each stop and very kind to some of the difficult tourists.

Very disappointed with the tour. We were part of a large group. The guide had to speak 3 languages. He explained extensively in Portuguese and Spanish, and when it was time for the English, he barely spoke a word. My husband, who spoke Spanish was translating for me. The entire group had to wait for the guide at least 30-40 minutes, at the meeting point for no reason... So much wasted time...we were back @ 21:30 instead of 19:00...I did not hear almost anything in English.. I deeply regret the missed opportunity to enjoy the history of Petropolis... Do not take this tour with this company...
