I really enjoyed this bus tour. I had been to Philadelphia before but didn’t do a tour. I ended up in town again at the end of a Road Trip and had the day to fill before needing to head to the airport that night. We had parked at the very top of Market Street and were walking back down towards city hall when we got to the Independence hall area. One of the staff for the Big Bus Tours asked if we were interested in a tour and we stopped to ask for the details. (Me & My husband both had money left over at the end of our trip and so decided to spend the $30 for the hop on / hop off tour). The first stop / departure for the tour is at this spot so we boarded and decided to sit on the open top of the bus. They do offer some semi-covered tops that would probably be a little warmer. Our guide was “Z” and she was fantastic. As well as the information about various land marks and tour stops, she also had great character and interacted with people on the bus. She was that good we decided to stay on for the full loop instead of hopping on & off. We decided as it runs frequently enough, if we wanted to see more we could go back around later in the day. This is definitely a good way to see the city if you are wanting to learn about the area and see what is worth visiting. A good thing may be to buy a multi-day ticket. Then you could do the full loop at the beginning, and then make a plan for s tops that you want to re-visit in more detail later in your trip. Thanks to “Z” for making the tour so entertaining!

hello klee_baker, Thank-you for your review of Big Bus Philadelphia. I am pleased to know you thoroughly enjoyed your tour experience. Also, thank-you for acknowledging your tour guide, Z. She is very enthusiastic about what she does and always strives to provide the best tour possible. Our tour is a hop on/hop off tour, but you can stay on and ride continuously without utilizing that option, and then ride again and hop off & on if you chose.

I had some friends in town and wanted to take them on a tour of Philadelphia, and I see the double decker Big Busses everyday on my lunch in Philly so I thought it would be a great opportunity to try it. The Big Bus itself was a great experience and I'd highly recommend it to first time visitors and lifelong natives. There are 23 stops that you can hop on and off at with your day pass, stopping nearby major sites within Philly like the Art Museum (by the Rocky Statue), City Hall, Reading Terminal, the old city area with stops at the Liberty Bell, Independence Hall, Betsy Ross's house, etc., and these are just a few of the places we were able to stop at and learn about during the day. We were able to see everything in the city that I wanted to take them to and it was convenient being able to jump on the bus all throughout the city. The real benefit was the informative tour guides as they provided information I didn't even know about a city I've lived in for 23 years, it was something our friends from NC really appreciated learning about such a historic city. If you ask me, I highly recommend this tour and think it's a great value for a guided tour AND transportation throughout the day. Sit up top for great views of the city, and I'd also recommend riding the full tour through to learn all of the interesting info that the guides provide and then using the hop on/hop off feature to see the areas you want to explore

We used this tour bus because we had passes from our City Pass included. We called for a shuttle pick up from our hotel which took over 30 min, although we were told it would only be 15 min. After calling the company again because the shuttle did not come, we were told the driver for the message and it would take another 15 min. The shuttle van was dirty and smelly. Trying to catch the bus again after sightseeing also took a very long time. We were the L's the bus would be at our stop in 15 min but waited over 30 min again. A total waste of time and we would not take again, even if it were free!

Hello MargaretC1973, Thank you for choosing Philadelphia Big Bus. I am sorry your tour experience did not live up to your expectations. Our tours depart at regular intervals from Stop 1, but the frequency of vehicles does vary depending on the time of year. During the fall, vehicles depart every 30 to 45 minutes, depending on the day of the week, so a wait of 30 minutes or more in between vehicles is appropriate. Our complimentary shuttle is available for hotel pick ups, and estimated times of arrival are offered, but can change depending on road and traffic conditions on any given morning.
