AVOID AT ALL COSTS! This company is an unethical fraudster. They charge you tax but the state of Colorado does not charge tax on services so they are pocketing the money that they're collecting in tax for the state of Colorado which is fraud.

Hello and thank you for the review. We at Adventures do not collect tax on our tours (except for our Zipline tour for the sales tax, for the town of Manitou Springs) All tours include a 4% environmental fee, or concession fee and is not a tax. The fees collected for concession and Environmental are appropriately distributed and goes to help several different agencies. Such as, Friends of Garden of the Gods, Palmer park, trails of open spaces, the forest service, and others. Adventures out West does not keep any of the funds.

Very well organized bicycle ride from Pikes Peak to Colorado Springs. I was surprised to feel how quickly the ride down ended. I had reserved a standard bike while the rest of the members in the group had reserved eBikes. To keep pace with the group, Adventures Out West recommended that I also ride an eBike. That eneded up being the correct advise as there are some stretches of the Pikes Peak road that do go uphill even whenriding down the mountain. The Jeep ride up the mountain was pleasant (the weather was very cooperating). But, being an opn air jeep, sitting in teh back, it was hard to hear what the guide (driver) was explaining as we drove up the mountain. But, all in all, the bike ride was an exhilirating experience. Breaks were frequent and of adequate duration.

This outfit is composed of the most amazing people! My 13-year-old son and I signed up for this tour before flying out from Kentucky. We drove the Pike's Peak Highway up to the summit the day before the ride, and my son decided that he didn't want to descend down the summit on a bike the next morning. I wasn't going to force him into it and was prepared to take the financial hit on the nose. But when I arrived the next morning to do the bike tour, I casually mentioned the circumstance to the tour directors and they worked to refund me for my son's last-minute cancellation. I truly didn't expect that and was grateful. As for the tour itself--AMAZING!!!! Our driver ("Cougar") had a lot of personality and gave us a bunch of interesting history about the mountain and the highway leading to it (it ranged from racing to forest fires). He honestly made you feel at home and comfortable. The vistas from the jeep were simply astonishing, and it was a great way to relax on the way up to the summit. Once at the summit, we were outfitted with a warm, wind-breaker jacket and gloves (which were needed--it was 38 degrees with wind chill at the summit on a July morning!) and rode with cycling guides in front and behind us. It was incredibly safe and I felt safer on the bike than I did driving up the mountain the day before. The views were magnificent and I even saw a mountain goat cross the road in front of us. There were plenty of stops to take photos and most of the ride was downhill (which made it much easier and there was no saddle soreness after 19 miles). And if you are worried about speed, know that you cannot ride over the posted speed limits and that the ride leaders adapt themselves to the group. There is also a support vehicle that follows you down, so you are covered from all angles! I know I will revisit the Rockies again, and when I do, I am definitely doing this ride again and bringing a few friends (and my son) to do it! You don't want any regrets--you gotta do it!!!
