Overview

Learning to surf with Sandbar Surf School is a lifetime bucket list thing that you will never forget. We are the premier surf school in California's Central Coast and we have been teaching surf lessons here in Pismo Beach since 1996. We have tons of local surf knowledge as well as many of our instructors are world travelers/surfers. We truly love what we do and you will have the best time in the world going with us. Laugh with us, surf with us and maybe even come to one of our bonfires! We would not only love to meet you from wherever in the world you are from, but we promise that your surf experience with us will be the part of the trip that you can't stop talking about in the days to come.

The instructors are great and make sure each person keeps going! My 8 year was ready to call it quits after about 20min, but they talked her back into it and she had the BEST time! She definitely wants to go back the next time we visit.

On holiday from the UK, I booked a 9am group lesson with my son, for his 14th birthday in August 2019. What a way to start the day! The instructors were knowledgeable and friendly, and the made sure everyone had the right equipment. After a shortish practice on the sand it was straight into the freezing ocean, where we spent 90 minutes trying to catch some waves. The instructors made sure they concentrated on the students who needed the most help, encouraging everyone to get up on their boards. And you know what? We both actually made it a few times. It is on film too, so nobody can every take that away from us :) Seriously though, it was absolutely thrilling to catch the waves, we both had an unforgettable time, and my son had a unique birthday experience to remember.
