Overview

Learning to surf with Sandbar Surf School is a lifetime bucket list thing that you will never forget. We are the premier surf school in California's Central Coast and we have been teaching surf lessons here in Pismo Beach since 1996. We have tons of local surf knowledge as well as many of our instructors are world travelers/surfers. We truly love what we do and you will have the best time in the world going with us. Laugh with us, surf with us and maybe even come to one of our bonfires! We would not only love to meet you from wherever in the world you are from, but we promise that your surf experience with us will be the part of the trip that you can't stop talking about in the days to come.

I am 68 and surfing has been on my bucket list for quite a while. Johnny of Sandbar Surf School made it happen for both me and my 13-year-old son. I called and left a message on the evening of May 10, inquiring about surfing lessons the next day. He called me early May 11 and we set it up for 9 that morning. Great first impression as he returned my call quickly and was friendly and accommodating. He met us at 9 as promised. Johnny has a great personality and is a fantastic instructor. This is coming from a 28 year public school instructor. Both on-the-beach and in-the-water instruction were simple, to the point, and corrective. He was very patient with my son whose attention tends to wander. Both of us were able to stand and ride. What a fantastic two hours! DO IT,

These guys are great. All four of us had a great time and were able to get up. The instruction was excellent and two hours was enough. We all slept well with grins on our faces. It’s a tiring sport! Dan B.

Sandbar was extremely helpful for me as someone who had never surfed before. I didn't have a clue but the instructor was very civil and gave me tips, which resulted in an improvement by the end of the session. Also very helpful with questions about boards, waves, or anything else a newbie like me might want to know. Great staff, great experience.
