Overview

Learning to surf with Sandbar Surf School is a lifetime bucket list thing that you will never forget. We are the premier surf school in California's Central Coast and we have been teaching surf lessons here in Pismo Beach since 1996. We have tons of local surf knowledge as well as many of our instructors are world travelers/surfers. We truly love what we do and you will have the best time in the world going with us. Laugh with us, surf with us and maybe even come to one of our bonfires! We would not only love to meet you from wherever in the world you are from, but we promise that your surf experience with us will be the part of the trip that you can't stop talking about in the days to come.

Jonny and his team were so accommodating - they made the booking process from the UK really simple and easy and gave us fantastic flexibility of dates and detailed directions. On the day every member of the team were really helpful, making us feel totally at ease as complete beginners. Everything we needed (e.g. Wetsuits etc) were provided and when in the sea the surf instructors had such amazing energy and enthusiasm to help you catch your waves!!! We felt really looked after and had the best time learning to surf (with some success!!). We definitely would have gone for a second day if it weren't for the fact we were leaving Pismo Beach. John, Chance and their team go every mile to make this an amazing experience. You gear up on the (free) parking lot, get a quick dry course in the sand and then you're off to the waves. We spotted dolphins and whales, and one seal (Frank, a regular apparently) stayed really near us most of the time: our kids had a wonderful morning, and stood on their boards real quick. Although we were a bit reluctant to join our kids on this surf school - we're not 'made from rubber' like our kids - we were really glad we did! It was great fun for the whole family!! Thanks John, Chance and the whole team!
