Overview

Learning to surf with Sandbar Surf School is a lifetime bucket list thing that you will never forget. We are the premier surf school in California's Central Coast and we have been teaching surf lessons here in Pismo Beach since 1996. We have tons of local surf knowledge as well as many of our instructors are world travelers/surfers. We truly love what we do and you will have the best time in the world going with us. Laugh with us, surf with us and maybe even come to one of our bonfires! We would not only love to meet you from wherever in the world you are from, but we promise that your surf experience with us will be the part of the trip that you can't stop talking about in the days to come.

My wife and I took a private lesson while at Pismo Beach. We met Johnny and our skilled instructor at the beach where he outfitted us with wetsuits and surfboards. After a brief on-beach tutorial, we were in the water and up on the boards after only a few tries! All in all it was a great day, and we opted to purchase some action shot photos on a CD for small fee. We received them in the mail in less than a week and they were totally worth it. One of the highlights of our vacation!

Our family from New Zealand had the pleasure of staying around Pismo Beach for some days in April 2015 and we had our teenage son in for three days of lessons with Sandbar Surf school. They were fantastic, our son had a great time and now instead of wanting to be a lawyer he wants to be a groovy surf instructor! The Sandbar crew are a great bunch. They know how to conduct a lesson which combined little kids with mature adults and everyone left happy with improved surfing skills. The Sandbar surf people were super friendly, great communicators, dedicated, professional yet fun and they do it with good equipment at a really nice beach. This was our 3rd time of getting surfing lessons in different places and Sandbar surf school is by far the best we have come across. Due to the time of year we had initially arranged for an individual lesson but when we turned up there were more participants so it became a group lesson which suited us better as it was more economical and more fun with a diverse group. The Sandbar surf school had arranged for additional staff so it virtually was an individual lesson but with the extra action and interaction of the group setting. We have absolutely have no hesitation in whole heartedly recommending the services of Sandbar surf school.

We were staying in PB while attending CalPoly SLO Open House, so had the opportunity for my 13 year-old daughter to have her first surfing lessons. Alyssa, Lauren and (really sorry can't recall the other wonderful teacher's name) were great...seriously great! And Jonny - most excellent, kind, business owner ever! Just yesterday my son decided to attend CalPoly, so we'll be back frequently. Estrella can't wait for her next lesson!!
