Overview

Join us for Whale Watching in our cool Alaskan waters and then view one of 38 glaciers from the Juneau Ice Fields - the spectacular Mendenhall Glacier. We guide you on a 2 hour whale watching tour, spotting Humpback whales and other wildlife. Then off to the Mendenhall Glacier to spend some time hiking, watching fish spawn at Steep Creek or enjoy an outstanding view from the Visitor Center. You get 1.5 hours at the park, but don't worry! That is the perfect amount of time to walk to nugget falls and take in the displays at the visitor center.

Tour time is a check-in time; departure is within 15 to 30 minutes.
The meeting place is under the cables in front of the Mt. Roberts Tramway.
All ports or docks are within 10 minutes walking distances, except one - the A Dock - which provides a “Downtown” shuttle to the Mt. Roberts Tramway.
Children must be accompanied by an adult
At time of booking, cruise ship passengers must provide the name of their ship
A moderate amount of walking is involved.
No food is allowed at the Mendenhall Glacier.
Tour operates in all weather conditions, so please dress appropriately in layers and for the likely chance of rain. It is recommended that you wear warm layered clothing, a waterproof jacket and comfortable slip-proof shoes

What To Expect

Goldbelt Tram

This is our meeting point. We chose it because it is easy to spot from everywhere. We meet under the cables of the aerial gondola.

Inside Passage

We will drive you via bus out to Auke Bay Harbor, where you board our custom whale watching boats

Mendenhall Glacier Visitor Center

We drive you via bus to this beautiful park. Time spent here depends on the time of day you arrive. Refer to your tour guide for the most accurate information.

We were in Juneau for July 4th. We had the chance to watch a parade downtown before joining our tour with Juneau Tours. I had called a few times before our arrival with questions and they were super friendly and willing to answer any and all questions. We started our day with a tour of Juneau. Then we spent several hours at Mendenhall Glacier which was absolutely amazing. The tour company was kind enough to give us an extra hour at the glacier which was SO needed. You could spend the day just enjoying the sites. When you go make sure you visit the visitor center and watch the movie. After the glacier we got back on the bus and headed for our whale watch. The staff was incredible. I am always in awe watching young people who have so much passion and knowledge about a certain topic. I live in New England and have been on a whale watch before so I can't lie I was not impressed. We only saw 2 whales. We saw more from our cruise ship. Overall truly fantastic day thanks to an amazing company!!

This was by far a major highlight of our trip! We were on the Thrill Seeker boat on August 13, 2019, with our captain Brandon and his first mate (Sorry!! name forgotten - which makes me feel awful because he was SO NICE!! Suddenly, they spotted two Orcas, which they said was pretty rare. It was AMAZING to see!! We also saw several humpbacks including a mom and baby. Not sure who was more excited about those Orcas, us or the guys lol They were so friendly, fun, and knowledgable about EVERYTHING Juneau has to offer! They even offered to help out with restaurant suggestions or other tour ideas. I really cannot say enough about the two of them! Their boat was crazy fast (and totally safe!!), and we laughed so hard as we bounced up and down with the boat in the waves on the way to and from the whale sighting area. They were super cautious about keeping the whales AND us safe. My thirteen year old did not want to go whale watching at all, but turned to me at one point and said, "This is the BEST excursion ever!!" I got a little choked up seeing the awe and wonder in his eyes. I credit Juneau Tours and especially our guys for creating a family memory that will last a lifetime!! xo

Brenden and Maddie were great. They knew where to go to see the whales. it was rainy, wet, and cold. it was also raining at the glacier. It is sad that the glaciers are going away. Both events were awesome.
