Overview

Join us for Whale Watching in our cool Alaskan waters and then view one of 38 glaciers from the Juneau Ice Fields - the spectacular Mendenhall Glacier. We guide you on a 2 hour whale watching tour, spotting Humpback whales and other wildlife. Then off to the Mendenhall Glacier to spend some time hiking, watching fish spawn at Steep Creek or enjoy an outstanding view from the Visitor Center. You get 1.5 hours at the park, but don't worry! That is the perfect amount of time to walk to nugget falls and take in the displays at the visitor center.

Tour time is a check-in time; departure is within 15 to 30 minutes.
The meeting place is under the cables in front of the Mt. Roberts Tramway.
All ports or docks are within 10 minutes walking distances, except one - the A Dock - which provides a “Downtown” shuttle to the Mt. Roberts Tramway.
Children must be accompanied by an adult
At time of booking, cruise ship passengers must provide the name of their ship
A moderate amount of walking is involved.
No food is allowed at the Mendenhall Glacier.
Tour operates in all weather conditions, so please dress appropriately in layers and for the likely chance of rain. It is recommended that you wear warm layered clothing, a waterproof jacket and comfortable slip-proof shoes

What To Expect

Goldbelt Tram

This is our meeting point. We chose it because it is easy to spot from everywhere. We meet under the cables of the aerial gondola.

Inside Passage

We will drive you via bus out to Auke Bay Harbor, where you board our custom whale watching boats

Mendenhall Glacier Visitor Center

We drive you via bus to this beautiful park. Time spent here depends on the time of day you arrive. Refer to your tour guide for the most accurate information.

This was the unanimous favorite excursion for a 11 members of our group! The boat Captain (Brenden) and the crew (Zoey and Mia) were all great and very knowledgeable. The numerous whales were very active and especially entertaining. They are truly magnificent creatures that seemed to be as curious about us as we were about them! The second part of the excursion to the Mendenhall Glacier was breathtaking. It was a glimpse of the last unspoiled American frontier in all it's beauty. The Premier Whale Watch and Mendenhall Glacier Combo is a sure bet for a fantastic day. My only warning would be that if you're on a cruise, be aware of late changes in your ship's itinerary. When we booked the whale watch, the ship was scheduled to arrive at 11:00, so the 1:30 whale watch trip looked good. When our ship sailed, the arrival in Juneau was changed to 1:30, so we'd never get to the trip in time. Luckily, it was very foggy with rain and the ship docked early at 11:30 which gave us plenty of time. We all give this excursion a enthusiastic thumbs up!

Awesome adventure we had a whale put on a show. He breached 3 times and and splashed with his tail several times then rolled and waved with his pectoral fins. We also had another whale breach and several others show up to the party. Ford, Brock and Dustin were fantastic! They were very knowledgeable Took great care of us! It was a great excursion!!

Great whale watch! Ford was a true pleasure! Mack & Alina did a great job finding many whales up close. Their excitement & enthusiasm added to our great experience. I even orders a T-shirt! Great job!!
