We got about an hour at the Mendenhall Glacier, which is not quite as long as we would liked but we still managed to walk the trail to the waterfall at a brisk pace and get a gorgeous view of the glacier. Someday we'd like to walk on the glacier! We also went to the visitor center and it was sad to see the timelapse photos of the glacier receding. We got to touch a piece of crystal clear glacier ice. Then, off to our whale watching excursion. The knowledgable naturalist told us the names of the mama whale and her calf who showed us their tails before doing a deep dive. We were served delicious snacks while on board and enjoyed the commentary from the staff as we sailed. After whale watching for a while we went to Orca Point Lodge for a delicious salmon and chicken lunch and had time to visit the aquarium tidepool they have set up as well as pick up shells on the beach. It was an absolutely top-notch experience.

Captain Kara and Jayden were excellent guides for our whale watch. Karaā€™s expert piloting ensured we saw 7 whales and other wildlife while Jaydenā€™s commentary was stellar! The experience was awesome! Both my kids loved it!

We booked this tour through Alaska Shore Tours. The company that took us on excursion was Juneau Tours and Whale Watch. Met at bottom of Tram. Bus drivers were very informative. Pointed out many sights along the way. We had group of 14 and there were only 22 on our boat. Our crew was Captain Kara and Danielle. They were wonderful! Learned a lot about whales. Saw at least 10. Boat was nice and well equipped. Next stop was Mendenhall Glacier Park. It was awesome. Great pictures!
