My family (including a 7 and 9-year old) booked a tour with Best New York Tours for our winter holiday trip from California and it was a highlight of our trip. We were picked up at our doorstep by Sheldon Lapidus and a driver in our own private coach, which made the 4-5 hour tour a seamless and hassle-free experience. More importantly, Sheldon had a seemingly endless knowledge and insights into any given borough, neighborhood, block, building, bridge and park we came across. We journeyed from the Bowery to Wall Street (which has the most fascinating history of all) to Brooklyn's Dumbo neighborhood for some obligatory shots of the Brooklyn Bridge, to Battery Park, to Ground Zero, to the High Line to Joe's Pizza for some world-famous slices. Through it all, Sheldon provided us little-known (sometimes obscure) facts about each location, delivered in a way that was both educational and entertaining. Admittedly, our kids weren't always as entranced as we were with the historical aspects, but Sheldon was always quick to add a joke and fun facts to keep them engaged too. We're recommending Sheldon to our friends and family - including those who have always lived in NY, but who didn't know half of the facts that we gathered in our day with Sheldon.

I have been to NYC five times but have never experienced it the way I did with Sheldon from Best New York Tours. His knowledge and love for the city made for a wonderful trip. He provided much more than a day tour. He helped with the planning of our trip before we arrived and continued to provide help with transportation, restaurants and entertainment the entire time we were in NYC.

We spent about 5 days in NYC over spring break with my parents who are 75, my husband and two boys, and one of the biggest highlights was our tour with Sheldon. A New York native, Sheldon, was well versed in the history, culture, life and politics of the city. My parents are slow to get around, and Sheldon was very sensitive to managing the tour at their pace. The highlights included seeing the Statue of Liberty, crossing the Brooklyn Bridge, seeing the Beastie Boys mural (for my husband), visiting the site where Alexander Hamilton is buried (for my boys) and eating New York pizza in the same place that Spiderman was filmed. In addition, our visit to the 9/11 memorial was presented by Sheldon with dignity and honesty about how that day changed life for New Yorkers and for all Americans. We hope to go back explore the museum someday to remember and honor all the people who lost their lives that day. We are grateful for the time you spent taking us through town with our wonderful SUV driver. It was well worth our time and a highlight of my parents only visit to NYC.
