On my bucket list has long been to take our family to Ellis Island and the Statue of Liberty and we finally scheduled it the week after Christmas. Having heard horror stories of complications and frustrations and expecting attractions to be crowded, we scheduled with Top Dog Tours for a private tour. We started in Battery Park looking at a line that seemed to stretch for miles, and we skipped it. We met our energetic and knowledgeable guide Liz who had already gotten our tickets and off we went. The experience was deeply moving, particularly Ellis Island. But the difference of going with someone who knew the ropes, where to stand when made all the difference. It is absolutely possible to do this on your own, but the private tour is the best way to go if you can.

Victoria, our guide for our group of 4 knew her stuff. She was sweet, went at the pace we felt comfortable, explained everything to us about the sights as well as gave us information to navigate NY and places to eat and shop. She was a blast and so well prepared. She explained to us exactly what to expect and was on time at our meeting place. She was a pleasure to be with.

The tour was absolutely fabulous, the weather was perfect and the sights not too busy. Our guide Hannah was amazing and was extremely well informed and knowledgeable. She had tonnes of enthusiasm and entertained us the whole time. She also knew the best spots for photos and where best to queue to get on/off the ferries super quick. All in all an excellent day, great value for money and a personal guide worth her weight in gold. Would highly recommend.
