Private Hike to Jungle Tide Pools

Overview
This tide pool is a local secret. It's off the beaten path. A miracle of nature. We'll use a jungle/lava rock coastal trail. Each way takes 30-40 min (1/2 mile) (10 minutes in jungle, 20-30 minutes on coast). Only your group will participate. I'll teach you about the pool's ecosystem and the local environment. You'll also have time to explore/relax privately.

- Elevation gain on the hike offers amazing coastal views. Sea turtles are a common sight in the distance.
- The pool is like an infinity pool overlooking cliffs. The water is crystal clear. It's highly likely you'll be alone because this spot is so unknown.
- The pool is like an an aquarium with fish, hermit crabs, rock crabs, sea cucumbers, shrimp, snails, spaghetti worms, pink coralline algae, seaweed, shells, & cool rocks.
- Waves strike cliffs and shoot water in the air like a blowhole (conditions permitting). A once-in-a-lifetime photo opportunity.
- The pool is calm/safe with a deep (4-7 ft.) & shallow (1-4 ft.) area.

I had a lovely time on this trip. Josh was super accommodating and helped me with my transportation, as well. The pools were absolutely amazing. I could have stayed all day. So relaxing and gorgeous! The fruit stand was sold out when we got there, so I recommend taking an earlier tour.

This experience was one of the highlights of my trip to the Pahoa area/Red Road/Puna district. What draws me to the area is the serenity and stunning views of the black lava rock cliffs, azure blue ocean and vibrant green lush vegetation/forest. A great place to take it all in. Josh was a great guide, friendly, good listener and was kind throughout the hike. The hike itself was easier than I thought thanks to wearing Tevas which really helped while hiking on the lava coastline. The tidepool we visited was a pristine, clear pool of water with an amazing view of the coast. It was a great spot for a refreshing dip and to enjoy the views. Part of the tour included walking through a trail in the jungle and on a rood with an old mango grove in an ancient part of the Hawaiian rainforest. Our last stop was to one of the fruit farms in the area. Josh has lived in this area and knows it well. Thank you Josh for a wonderful morning exploring the beauty of this area. I will book you again my next trip to the area to visit the other set of tide pools we didn't get a chance to see. The park and neighborhood where I met up with Josh is very nice and I would love to stay in a vacation rental there. I followed Josh in my own car to the area where the trailhead begins. By the way, I took this tour when the mask mandate was already lifted so no mask or social distancing was needed or required.
