What To Expect

Crystal River

Upon arrival at the dive shop, guests will be fitted for wetsuits and asked to watch a brief video from US Fish and Wildlife outlining their encounter with the manatees. The captain and guide will then take the group to the boat and embark all passengers and give a short safety brief. Once underway, the guide will further explain how to interact with the manatees once in the water and fit the guests with their masks and snorkels. While transiting to the swim areas, the captain and guide will present information about the area wildlife and what guests can expect to see during your tour. They will also answer questions and take pictures along the way. The guide will stay with the group the entire time, ensuring that the guests get the most out of their experience, all while taking photos and videos of your adventure!

I booked this tour via Viator as a solo traveller as I liked the idea of a small group which is so much better than the other boats you see in the bay. The tour is fab, Ron and Lauren were excellent at spotting the manatees so we could get to be close to them in the water. I managed to swim on top of a manatee while it was eating for about 5 mins which was an excellent experience. The only downfall was the photos taken by the tour failed to work when we got back to the harbour which was such a shame as I would love a memory of this trip.

We had a wonderful time with Ron and Lauren. The number of people on each boat is small, not like the other companies. Ron and Lauren had us swimming with manatees for over an hour with no one else around. It was like having a private manatee tour! Coffee and hot chocolate were provided by the crew also! Lauren is an excellent swim guide and made sure my kids had an excellent experience in the water. Ron is very personable and made everyone feel at ease.
