Having read that 2024 is the 400th anniversary of the arrival of the Dutch to New York, I was intrigued to learn more about the place where I lived and even raised my kids. This sailboat ride and historical tour turned out to be the perfect solution – part History Channel and part Comedy Central, Dave, the captain and sightseeing guide was like the “Mike Rowe” of tour guides – informative, lighthearted, entertaining, and funny. I learned great historical information, and now will win if I can find a Bar Trivia Night, with a New York history theme. The private sailboat ride was luxurious and far better than some group trip, with a snack bar (we brought along our own cheeses, sandwiches, veggies and “adult beverages” that were restaurant quality presented and then served to us). Dave did exactly what we asked – focused on the Dutch influence and left us some “alone” time to socialize amongst ourselves and take pics. I’m going to return when next time friends/family come to town and I need to show them New York.

A couple of friends and I wanted to experience the view and learn the history of New York City from New York harbor. Our Guide, Dave, offered us a unique private tour on their upscale Beneteau sailboat, which allowed us to sail close to the Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island and Governors Island for most outstanding views! Dave is an experienced sailor, who was delighted to share his extensive knowledge of the history around the Harbor with a humorous tone, which made learning the history much more fun. We really enjoyed this instructive and insightful trip (full of small details), on a fun and restful private sail. Living in NY, I would definitely recommend to both locals (even those who think they "have seen it" and "know it already") and tourists to charter Captain Dave’s boat for a unique tour of the Harbor. This tour made our day a memorable one - Triple thumbs up!

I can’t stop sharing photos of my sail along the Hudson River and around the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island with my friends. I’m a bit of a history nerd, and the captain of the boat, Dave, exceeded my expectations, and I walked away with a wealth of new knowledge about the New York Harbor's maritime history. I live full-time in New York and would recommend this to a local and tourists alike.
