La Jolla
The La Jolla area is home to some of the most unique built structures in the country, including a Brutalism-style gem you will explore which has a tie-in to Dr. Suess. And you’ll stroll through a vast, yet hidden, outdoor public art collection specifically designed for the landscape and surroundings. Learn about the origin of the collection, how the artists are chosen, and the meanings of the selected "site specific" pieces, including “San Diego’s newest tourist attraction” – a treasure that even locals don’t know! You will be taken to a stunning cliff top viewpoint that soars above the majestic ocean and has a tie-in to one of the most famous internationally known aviators. Time permitting, you will also check out a very hidden viewpoint way up high in the La Jolla hills, where the elitist of the elite live. You will visit a totally different viewpoint on the top of a mountain which has stunning 360° vistas; plus you'll experience and learn about the unique monument at the top.

Julie took the time and made the effort to give us a wonderful "Artventures" tour of La Jolla, Little Italy, and Chicano Park. She was well-prepared, informative, pleasant, flexible and funny - she's a fantastic tour guide. Even though our family has lived in the SD area for 20 years, almost everything we saw and learned was brand new to us, and we enjoyed the time so much. Highly recommended, we would definitely book another tour with Julie to either learn more about our local neighborhoods, or show off the area to out oft owners.

M- I loved being able to show you and your family some of the amazing hidden art all around San Diego and teach you about the origins of it. I'm so glad you got so much out of the different neighborhoods I showed you and the variety of artwork. I hope you found the resources I sent you about getting more involved in the arts community helpful. ~ Julie

My sisters and I thoroughly enjoyed our private tour with Julie. We really felt like we saw the best of La Jolla, much of which is probably overlooked by tourists who strike out on their own. Julie ‘s knowledge and love of the area really added to the experience, and we appreciated her tips for further exploration on our own.
