Overview

The price listed is for all 10 seats in a 2022 Mercedes Sprinter van with 2 rows of reclining seats, phone charging stations, and cup holders.

This tour is private, so it is just you and your ohana together all day. With us, you see more of the National Park than with any other company. Lava has been very intermittent since the end of 2022.

HVNP takes approximately 4 hours and includes Halemaumau crater, Nahuku Lava Tube, pit crater, lava tree molds, fissure crack, Pele’s hair, steam vents, pahoehoe, a’a. Meals are usually at the Volcano House because it has the best views of Halemaumau Crater. Several modifications can be made, usually by removing some stops in HVNP.

Hawaii Volcanoes National Park

We explore Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, Visitor Center,3D map with fully narrated explanation of the island and it's 5 Volcanoes. Steam vents, Mt Kilauea, Caldera and Halemaumau Crater. Lunch Opportunities at Volcano House, travel down chain of Craters rd, observe old Lava flows, Lava trees and the fabulous Giant Fern forest. Tours are Private so we can spend longer in the park.

Nahuku - Thurston Lava Tube

See one of the best lava tubes in Hawaii complete with rainforest and jungle. The Park can close the lava tube at any time but has rarely done so.

This was the highlight of our trip to Kona. Rob and his wife Jodi made this an unforgettable experience for me and my husband, brother-in-law, and his family. We were picked up right on time at 3am (after they recommended changing our pick-up time from 8am to 3am, and THANK GOD we did!) from our hotel and headed to the park. (Note: it was JUST our family in the van, which made it extra special). Walking up to the Kilauea site from the parking lot was amazing - you could see the red glow of the magma reflected in the rising steam. After viewing the active volcano we had a delicious breakfast at the lodge before riding out into the park to see solidified pahoehoe and aa lava flows and their impact on the surrounding environment. Finally, we walked through the Thurston lava tube, got more coffee for the ride home, and, at Rob's recommendation, we left the park and headed south to see a black sands beach where five sea turtles were relaxing in the sun. We were back at our hotel by around 1:30pm. We received a link to dozens of photos and videos that documented our day so we can remember all the amazing things we saw. This was an incredible day and I highly, highly recommend folks take advantage of this opportunity. Thank you, Rob and Jodi!!

Rob was a very knowledgeable guide ! He answered all my questions and I had lots! We were able to experience up close the places that most just see from a distance. He provided videos along the way to help explain the details of what we were about to see.

Rob was the tour guide for our eight-person tour. We loved the spacious Mercedes van that picked us up right on time. One of our group was legally blind, on oxygen, and in a walker. Rob seated her in the front passenger seat, plugged in her oxygen and was very good about describing everything we saw. We had so many wonderful experiences on this tour: watching surfers, driving through a rain forest, and getting very close to a crater. The lunch at the Volcano House overlooking the Kilauea Crater was amazing. Prior to seeing the crater, Rob played a video in the van about the Kilauea eruption in 2018. It was unbelievable and so well timed. Rob is an excellent experienced guide, who is also a lot of fun.
