Overview

Sometimes the best way to get closer is to get away. There’s no better place to spend quality time together than Hawaii’s North Shore, and you haven’t seen the island until you’ve seen it by horseback, riding through the forest trails and overlooking the ocean.
This is a unique and unforgettable experience, far away from all the noise of the regular tourist spots. You’ll see a side of Oahu that many don’t know about and enjoy a private picnic together, complete with delicious sandwiches on fresh homemade bread, fruit, and a bottle of sparkling cider. The highlight of the ride is a sweeping panoramic view of the ocean from our lookout point, where you can take in the full scale and beauty of the island. (If you can take your eyes off each other, that is.)

We ride rain or shine. If canceled due to unsafe weather, you will be given the option of an alternative date or full refund

My friend and I had a wonderful ride with Cali, she is very experienced horsewoman and knowledgeable about the local history. Cali was super friendly and was a pleasure to spend the time with her. our horses were Skeeter and Remington and were a joy to ride. The lunch was amazing and the views were breathtaking. My fiancé and I booked a two hour, advanced, private ride and when I say it was the most phenomenal part of any of my vacations, I'm not lying. Ty was the most amazing wrangler we could have asked for, he made the ride so much fun, made us TN country couple feel right at home and was highly knowledgeable about everything on the ranch. As horse owners ourselves, we are always keen on trying new places to ride on vacation and have tried other places on the island in trips past. There will be no other place now, Gunstock Ranch just blew us completely away. The horses where gorgeous and very well taken care of, and all the employees were professional and beyond grow fly it was so nice. The views were breathtaking, the lunch overlook and food was to die for, and already trying to figure out if we have time in our schedule to go back and do another ride with him we enjoyed it so much. This is definitely a must go place for everyone!

My girlfriend and I went on the 'sweet-heart' tour with our guide, Michael. It was pretty great. I had never ridden a horse before and the way they supported and broke it down for you was great. They give you everything you need to know, like mounting stairs so you can easily get on the horse. The horse I rode, Pono, was very relaxed and easy going. My girlfriend got Clint, who likes to eat grass at any opportunity! You have the option to get a helmet or not - I would recommend not since the horses never get beyond the speed of a trot. The views were pretty amazing. You felt as if you were riding through the country itself. The ranch is about 900 acres so there's a lot to see. It used to be a sugar plantation and you get to see some remnants of that and then you get to go to a peak at the highest point on the ranch with some truly awesome views. Our guide picked out a great little peek-a-bo spot in the trees overlooking a spectacular vista, all the way to the ocean and brought a little lunch. The lunch was catered by BYU @ Hawaii and it was really good and fresh. The price is well worth it. Only complaint is it was too short (2 hours)! Lastly, make sure to tip - the guides really appreciate it and Michael was awesome. -Darin
