What To Expect

Hawaii Volcanoes National Park

Get the most out of your visit to Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, a World UNESCO Heritage Site. To see most of the major sites in HVNP takes 3 hours. You will see: calderas, pit craters, lava trees, lava river, fissures, splatter ramparts, steam vents, lava tube and more. If you would prefer to see less of the Park and visit other stops along the way to the Park you are welcome to do so.

Nahuku - Thurston Lava Tube

With us you will actually learn how the lava tube formed and see some of the interesting remnants from the previous lava flows.

Chain of Craters Road

See some past eruptions in the National Park and unique lava formations.

Steam Vents

Get a blast of steam from natural geothermal vents in the earth.

Rainbow Falls

Visit the most southern waterfall on the Big Island and find out why the Big Island has such few waterfalls.

After having our cruise line excursion canceled, we decided to find a private tour. A quick Google search provided Big Island VIP.com. Jodi provided a private tour in an 11-passenger van just for our group of 6. The tour runs 8 am to 2 pm and the price includes her photography. We had a full day and saw many things that most tours and people just drive by. She has an extensive knowledge of Hilo and Volcano National Park. She tailors the tour to the interest/needs of her clients. This is one of the very best tours we have ever been on. BigIslandVIP.com is highly recommended. We will be back!

Jodi was just a superb guide. My family and I had a great experience and my kids (son-9 and daughter-12) learned so much about the volcanoes. Service was great and it was so fun spending the day with Jodi. The pictures were a bonus too. Highly recommended.

Rob picked us up on our “Hilo day” from the cruise port. My dad’s limited mobility let us to choose a private tour and we so appreciated Rob’s accommodation of his limitations and our desire to hike; we had it all! Rob was knowledgeable of the Volcano Park and showed video as we drove of the big eruptions last year. He was also full of great advice for our 2nd day on Hawaii, on the Kona side. The van was spacious and TALL, a great ride.
