Visiting Vernon was interesting and the museum was very well done. Many theater and movie events were closed because of covid, which was a disappointment. If you don't like walking, I wouldn't recommend because of the acres of land needing traversing to examine the expanse of the estate. There were costumed workers but they didn't seem to be doing much (no demonstrations). Go for the view though!

Looking for the opportunity to tour the mansion - the add-on tickets were sold out for our preferred day - I booked this tour. Pricey for just 3 of us but since none of us have been out in the past year and limited time to visit, we plunged in. It wasn’t much different than the regular tour except we got a quick walk through the basement (not part of the regular tour). The 2nd floor was closed due to unexpected issues. Would I recommend this 1 hour tour? No. Just didn’t feel a bang for the bucks. But for our purposes and feeling a bit frivolous, it met our needs. The tour leader is one of the Mt Vernon tour staff and was very knowledgeable. Maybe once all areas are open then maybe I’d give it 4 stars.

Excellent tour guides and with a wealth of information as you stroll through the house. Take a walk around the plantation. Don't forget to visit the museum and watch a movie about GW. The gift shop is top notch.
