What To Expect
1
Mission Espada
Southern-most mission of the five in San Antonio, this location is the start of your tour and will lay the foundational context for the rest of the tour. You will walk into the interior of this mission, hear interesting information about its' inhabitants and the Friars, as well as, the construction and layout of the mission. You will also have an opportunity to walk into the church that looks as it did in the 1700's.
2
Mission San Juan
Just five minutes from the first stop at Mission Espada, this mission has a fully renovated church that is not only charming, but impressive in its' reconstruction and the highlight of this stop. Hear about the inhabitants at this location, the construction of this mission, and what life was like for them. You will visit a small museum that has wonderful displays of materials used by the inhabitants, the use water for agriculture, among interesting other information.
3
Mission San Jose
The "Queen of the Missions" is the largest and most renovated mission in San Antonio. This huge mission is arguably the most important here because of the massive amounts of food that was cultivated and shared with the smaller missions. Here, you will walk into one of the apartments of the inhabitants, experience the Convento where the Friars and soldiers slept, walk through the beautiful domed church, and see the gorgeous facade of the church while you hearing stories of its' creation and renovation. And, of course, see and hear all about the iconic Baroque architectural piece known as the Rose Window. This stop includes a few minutes to peruse the gift shop as well.
4
Mission Concepcion
Mission Concepcion is hands down the most charming of all the missions. Hear about its' inhabitants, what life was life at this location, and learn about the creation of its' duel bell tower church, the oldest stone church in the US! You will see a 250 year old fresco, a fascinating ocular display, and the interior of the church where you will be humbled by its' beauty. You will see some other architectural highlights here, but those a secret and I can't wait to tell you all about them!

While on a ā€œsistercationā€ in San Antonio, I mentioned to my son, AJ, that I was interested in taking my sister on a tour. Through a web search, he found San Antonio ProTours and found they offered private UNESCO Mission Tours. Michael with San Antonio ProTours was quick to respond to AJ and then to me. He displayed an appreciation of the experience we were looking for and put together a full itinerary, which he communicated to us prior and included the Missions we would explore. Micheal eagerly met us at the free Pearl parking area and then our wonderful adventure began. Our tour ran at our own pace for questions, photos, and visits to each mission church. Micheal provided a fantastic, fun and, intriguing commentary with an interesting insight into the the history of The San Antonio missions. He also provided info on other places to see in San Antonio and recommended restaurants that proved to be excellent. Michael and his tour are highly recommended.ā€Ø

We had such a great time with Michael on the Missions Tour. He is the perfect guide, and we can't wait to get on more of his guided tours. A great way to spend the morning learning about the beautiful Missions here with such an interesting and really funny guide. Michael is so knowledgable and he brings to life the way it was with his descriptive narratives. I can't say enough about the quality of his tours. He shares his knowledge in such a captivating way. Ask for his restaurant recommendations while in SA. We went to Pharm to Table at his recommendation and with him, we just couldn't get enough. What a great find in a restaurant . It is now on our growing list of places to heat downtown. Thank you Michael for making our day extra special and spending some off time with us. We couldn't be any happier with our choice of YOUR tour. Gratefully yours, Donna, Carl, Roxanne and Peggie.
