Private Walking Tour of Historic Charleston

Overview
Who better to guide you through the heart of Charleston than a native Charlestonian? Discover Charleston's heart and soul as you walk through the picturesque streets and quaint alleyways of Charleston’s Historic District. Guided by Timothy Trouche, an eighth-generation Charleston native and third generation Charleston tour guide, you will learn how “The Holy City” withstood the test of time, rebuilding upon her ashes and ultimately being preserved as the gem you see today. Share in Tim’s hometown knowledge of Charleston’s rich history from its colonial days as Charles Town, through the American Revolution and Civil War. Tour guide for private tour texted us an hour before the tour start time saying he was stuck in traffic. We offered to start later even an hour late and he still declined. He pawned us off on another guide and we are now stuck going in the morning prior to our Mother’s Day brunch. Not at all ideal or what we wanted.

This person was given multiple options. The interstate was shut down preventing me from getting to the tour that day. I offered both morning and afternoon times the following day or a full refund both options were rejected by her. She then proceeded to rudely demand a tour on Sunday which I was not able to do and then offered a refund again which was again refused and this time even more rudely. I sent her business to a friend to try to please her. She never took my tour and my other reviews will prove that.

Our tour of historic Charleston with Tim was wonderful. I’m sure I’ll never remember everything he shared with us but I have a deeper understanding of the history that formed Charleston. His first comments were what did we want to see. He is very well informed and shares enough that we understood what happened then and how that effected today. I would highly recommend Tim as your tour guide.

Tim was a very professional, engaging and knowledgeable guide for our private walking tour of the town. He was waiting for us on time and immediately made us feel welcome and comfortable. His knowledge of the area and history was fantastic along with more general USA history for people from England like us. He asked us what we were interested in to Taylor the walk to us which was great. He has a good clear speaking voice so we didn’t miss anything. Tim dropped the odd good ‘bad’ joke too so was not dry. At the end he gave us some good tips for restaurants and other trips. We had a great time, learnt a lot and the 2 hours went quickly. Highly recommended to anyone visiting Charleston.
