What To Expect

Lamar Valley

This tour is customizable! During the winter months this tour will only cover the Northern Range of Yellowstone National Park. The Northern range is a wonderful place to view wildlife such as Wolves, Bison, Foxes, Coyotes, Deer, Elk, Otters, Eagles, and much more! During the summer the Northern Range is a wonderful place to see all the animals listed above with the addition of Grizzly and Black Bears!

We loved our time in Yellowstone and particularly the morning of the 17th of August 2022 with Nolan from Yellowstone Journeys. We planned our guided visit early in our trip which was great because Nolan was able to give us recommandations for the rest of our stay in Yellowstone. He is very knowledgeable and shared great stories and facts about the history of Yellowstone, the wildlife, and the sites. He is friendly, talks a lot and is easy to ask questions to. Honestly, we could not believe his ability to drive, talk to us, and spot wildlife all at the same time! He adapted our tour to what we were interested in doing, which was great. He also spots plenty of things that we would not have seen, like bison hair stuck on a tree! Sadly, we did not get to see wolves or bears, but we saw plenty of bison, some elks, pronghorns, and a mountain goat. Because part of the park was closed due to the flood, he was able to take us to a restricted section, which was great! Our kids (12 and 14) were relatively quiet in the morning but they retained everything Nolan said and kept reminding us of many of the facts that he shared with us in the days following the tour. If we are ever back in Yellowstone, we would love to book with Yellowstone Journeys again.

I would highly recommend Yellowstone Journey. Nolan knew all those out of the way places to see wildlife. We was able to see bison, wolf, bear, pronghorn, pikas, and a golden eagle. Plus all the natural beautiful landscape. Nolan was very informative about the wildlife, land and thermal areas. He was patient and kind with my 93 year old father who is mobility handicapped and hard of hearing. Caitlyn provided delicious snack lunch and drinks. My next trip to Yellowstone will be with Yellowstone Journey.

About as good as it gets for a one day tour of Yellowstone. You will not be disappointed. Ive visited the park in the past and I learned many knew things from Nolan Darr, our guide. If you only have one day, this is the way to go!
