Privateer Schooner Sailing Tour in Salem Sound

Overview
FAME is annually the #1-rated boat in Salem and one of the top-rated activities in the entire town, per TripAdvisor. Don't miss the very best of what Salem has to offer! There's more to our town than witches!

FAME is a full-scale replica of a privateer schooner from the War of 1812 that captured over 20 prizes! We sail up to five times a day between May and October from Pickering Wharf Marina in downtown Salem.

On board our traditional gaff-rigged schooner, you'll get a chance to raise the sails and even steer the boat as we sail Salem Sound and talk about the fisherman, traders, and privateers that played such a central role in the saga of Salem, of Massachusetts, and of the young United States.

This is a great hands-on adventure for all ages — but you can also just sit back and enjoy a beverage and take it all in as we cruise past the historic forts and lighthouses of Salem, Beverly, and Marblehead.

Beautiful sail, hot in town, just right on the water. Captain Mike had lots of stories to tell and you could ask just about anything having to do with Salem history. Also loved the pictures and stories about building the "Fame". Very relaxing except when it was my turn to steer the boat (it was fun and a bit nerve wracking at the same time). We even set off a canon! Great activity for all-

With the sun setting and a stiff breeze kicking up - this spry little schooner makes way smartly, silently through Salem Harbor past historic lighthouses, million-dollar homes, rock outcroppings and tiny islands. It is always good to see and experience the world from the sea. Fame is the perfect vessel for such.

We had an enjoyable schooner ride in Salem harbor on a beautiful June afternoon. The replica schooner Fame was an awesome trip, with great views of Salem, the harbor and nearby islands. Along the journey Captain Mike gives you an informative and eloquent history of the Fame and its impact with Salem history and the War of 1812. Also when Captain Mike fires the cannon you feel as if you were back in 1812! This schooner ride is a must.
