FAME is a full-scale replica of a privateer schooner from the War of 1812 that captured over 20 prizes! We sail up to five times a day between May and October from Pickering Wharf Marina in downtown Salem.

On board our traditional gaff-rigged schooner, you'll get a chance to raise the sails and even steer the boat as we sail Salem Sound and talk about the fisherman, traders, and privateers that played such a central role in the saga of Salem, of Massachusetts, and of the young United States.

This is a great hands-on adventure for all ages — but you can also just sit back and enjoy a beverage and take it all in as we cruise past the historic forts and lighthouses of Salem, Beverly, and Marblehead.

We had absolutely beautiful weather and this outing on the ocean was a nice reprise from the insane crowds in Salem. Crew was friendly, shared some history and let us steer! Favorite thing we did that day.

The sailing tour was such an amazing experience! We wanted to experience Salem, MA in different ways and this was one of the most memorable experiences of our trip. The entire team was very friendly. We also got a brief history on the Schooner Privateer & the beginnings of Salem, very interesting & educational, thank you for the wonderful experience!!! TIP: Make sure you check the weather forecast and wear a nice jacket, gloves, and hat if you go during the fall or winter.

As soon as you go to get your tickets the woman at tbe booth is giving you the run down and is very sweet! The crew and captain on the boat ate great! They tell you all the rules and make sure your taken care of. They offer alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks as well as snacks (all for a small price). The caption and 3 crew members had come over to my group and told us stories and asked if we wanted to help with the sails. This was my very first trip to see the ocean and I am so glad I booked with them!
