Redwoods of Marin and Mt. Tamalpais Walking Tour with Local Guide

Overview
See Marin's world-famous redwoods without the crowds on your moderately strenuous, 3 to 4-hour, guided small-group tour led by an expert local guide. Access the iconic redwood groves of charming Mill Valley on foot and navigate the quiet trails following the fern-lined canyons at the base of Mt. Tamalpais. Experience cathedral-like ancient trees in a primeval creek-side setting and explore the redwood groves for about two and a half hours. The walk begins with a shuttle from a meeting place near the ferry landing in downtown Sausalito (ferry ticket not included) and then a stroll through Mill Valley's historic Old Mill Park before heading out into the redwood forests and park-like neighborhoods.

Beautiful, easy hike. Then we added another 4 miles on and it got steep. Was a geat workout!! We made reservations on line to park and had no problems.

I couldn't recommend enough for this tour. You know there is a concept from Japan called Forest bathing therapy. This tour will bring you exactly that healing feeling simply by being in the forest, among the breathtaking redwood. Ben was our main tour guide (alongside with Greg) and he was very knowledgeable and personable. He used to be a travel writer and a local too. It explains a lot about the pleasant and informative tour he gave us. He explained not just about the eco system, the evolution of the Redwood but also told us mythical stories around the forest, anecdote about a celeb who was a local there (I won't tell the name to avoid spoiler :). The hiking trail is not very strenuous, a couple of high slopes but still within tolerance (I'm not a very sporty person btw). We felt so lucky that we made it to this tour after missing the first one because we were late for the ferry. So make sure you have enough time to catch the 10am ferry to Sausalito because you definitely don't want to miss this tour.

My wife and I went on a private tour with Ben through Muir Woods and had a fantastic time! Ben picked us up from the Sausalito ferry and gave us several options for where we could head for the day, based on how long we wanted to spend and how adventurous we were feeling. We wound up hiking around Mt Tam and through Muir Woods, which was incredible. Ben is very friendly and extremely knowledgeable about the area, having grown up there. Itā€™s a nice bonus that heā€™s also a photographer and will get great pictures of you, if you want. When we were done, he dropped us off at the Golden Gate Bridge overlook so we could walk the bridge back (itā€™s longer than it looks). We had an excellent time and it was definitely a highlight of the trip.
