Our guide, a retired history teacher and professor, knew his stuff. We had a very engaging walking tour, at an easy pace on a hot, humid day. We visited a diverse group of historical sites that made us appreciate Richmondā€™s role in Amerciaā€™s pre-and post-colonial life, the civil war, and the civil rights movement. Much to see!

Our guide Kathy took us round so many sites of historical interest in downtown Richmond. She said she has lived in Richmond all her life and it shows: she is so knowledgeable and passionate and proud of the city's history and heritage. Would definitely recommend this tour for anyone visiting Richmond.

A friend from Charlottesville suggested we meet in Richmond and do the downtown walking tour with Jeff. We were not disappointed, as he was a congenial, professional and very knowledgeable guide. Jeff made the rich history of Richmond come alive with interesting facts and anecdotes. Who knew that Richmond had so many illustrious residents (some that never made the history books) and lots of American ā€œfirstsā€! Jeff does not ignore the truths of slavery and its aftermath, which we appreciated. Expect to walk for 2 hours, stopping in the shade once in a while- this is a tour for the hydrated and able-bodied.
