Family of 5 with 3 young boys. Our guide(s) made the trip. Our children throughly enjoyed spending the day with Noah, Nathaniel and Emily!

This was the worst guided rafting trip I have taken out of Riggins, I believe I have taken 8 different trips. First we waited around until 9:15 until we got going. Second, I have never been with a company that didn't provide water or at the very least have a cooler so we can put water in it. The water was low so there wasn't any extreme rapids and the company would not allow us to have drinks on the trip. This was my 3rd trip with Orange Torpedo and drinking was never prohibited. It was a birthday trip for my husband so we had planned on having a few drink. I have never been on a trip that would not allow drinking. We also felt like nothing was very organized. Book with a different company...

Iā€™m sorry to hear your experience did not match your expectations. We pride ourselves on running great trips and it appears we had a mis-alignment on expectations here. Whenever their is a mis-alignment on expectations we believe that is a mis-alignment that is our responsibility so for that I apologize and we will look at our systems to see where we can try and ensure this does not happen again. That said, as this is a public forum I will respond to a couple of your comments. First, if I remember your trip correctly we were waiting on another group which is what caused the delay in leaving. Unfortunately, as Riggins is somewhat remote, people occasionally show up 15 minutes late. Add in we are on the time zone line and sometimes that causes some arrival confusion as well. Second, we have not allowed alcohol consumption while floating on a class III/IV section of river for years. This policy is in alignment with national best practices in the rafting industry and one we fully stand by. Honestly, we finally moved away from it years ago when some our guides were harassed by guests who were somewhat under the influence and I will always side towards protecting our staff. As for the water, in our packing lists, pre-trip e-mails, and arrival orientation we strongly advise guests bringing water bottles as it is great to have water on a trip. On longer trips we supply plenty of water bottle re-fill options. Finally, I would add that the Riggins day section actually goes up in difficulty as the water goes down. We have true class IV rapids when the water is very high, then a middle ground with mostly class III, and then as the water goes down one rapid actually gains a low class IV rating so lower water does not actually equate to things being less challenging. Again, thanks for joining us and I am sorry the experience did not match your expectations. We stand by our experiences and I would love to chat with you about what we can do to make this right with you. You can reach me at any of the phone numbers listed on our website. Thanks, Erik
