River Fishing and Bear Watching

Overview

This tour is designed for cruise ship passengers who are looking for an Alaskan excursion that is off the beaten path. We’ll depart Icy Strait Point and drive through the Alaska Native Tlingit village of Hoonah before merging onto old logging roads that will take us to a remote river. During the car ride and along the river it is common to spot wildlife- the island has more brown bears per square mile than almost anywhere else on the planet.

We had a great time fishing with NatVenture. It is the first thing my son talks about when people ask about our Alaskan Cruise. We caught Silver, Pink and Chum Salmon. The Chum Salmon were a great fight. I wish I could upload of video of my son and the fight with the Chum Salmon. Our only regret was not having more time to fish - we had to get back to catch our cruise ship. We would have spent all day out fishing if we could. Natalie is great - she picks you up right at the edge of the village where the ship docks.

Natalie was awesome and our trip was incredible. We got to see 2 bears, including 1 very close. The fishing was wonderful catching many Dolly Varden. Natalie's communication in the months and weeks leading up to our trip was great. I would strongly recommend a trip with Natalie to see Alaska.

NatVenture took us to the backcountry of Alaska to her private sanctuary. We caught two salmon in two casts and we weren't even there to fish. We were there to see bear and one was spotted in the distance. A true professional all the way. She made feel comfortable even wading with waders in a 3-foot deep river, something none of us had done before. It was an adventure for all, we will. not soon forget. I highly recommend her and plan to book her again for our next trip.
