We are one of the First Private Tour Providers on the island and have been in business since 2007. We custom tailor each tour to our guests bucket list desires and abilities. Our guides knowledge of Hawaii's unique history and ecology gives special meaning to our tours. Limiting the tours to one or two small groups at a time gives us the ability to serve our guests on an individual basis and creates a more comfortable dynamic for questions and answers. you come as a guest and leave as family.

What To Expect

Hana Highway - Road to Hana

One of the only tropical rain forests in the world that you can drive through. Main locations listed below, but other stops available. Please discuss with your guide what you would like to do/see.

Ho'okipa Beach Park

Maui's famous surfing, windsurfing and kite boarding beach. We stop to see Maui's famous large green sea turtles napping the in sun.

Waikamoi Ridge Trail

Beautiful Ocean Vista's and introduction to Maui's unique flora and fauna.

Ke‘anae Point

Small Hawaiian Village, Taro Fields, Lava Coastline and the chance to sample Auntie Sandy's fresh banana bread.

Wailua Valley State Wayside Park

Both valley and high vantage point coastal views.

Pua'a Ka'a State Park

Safe and accessible waterfalls to swim in.

Charles Lindbergh's Grave

Peaceful chapel and historic graveyard.

Laulima Farm

Short farm trail to view coffee and unique fruits and local grown vegetables. Peaceful bamboo seating areas.

Kaupo

Watch the transition from tropical rain forest to arid ranch lands. Spectacular panoramic views of the backside of Haleakala.

we wanted a custom tour for the road to hana because we had some specific requests for our needs. we are so glad we found Awapuhi Adventures and have Matt as our tour guide. Matt is a personable, easy-to-talk-to guide that really knows his stuff. we had so many questions about the area and he just answered them with one interesting fact bit after another. He is funny and he appreciates if you are funny too, which makes for a great day, especially considering we spent the whole day with him. We looked back and there were so many moments where Matt would take some candid photos of us or would prompt us to take a photo of our family. we would not have stopped for a photo if Matt did not remind us. It is like having a professional photographer follow you the whole day! we were spoiled! he took a great panoramic photo of us. an important point. driving on the road to hana is quite treacherous and with Matt, we felt 100# safe with his driving the windy roads. we stopped by numerous sites (red sand beach; black sand beach; and many other sites at Hana—some famous some obscure. i have been at quite a few custom tours over the years (eg costa rica, puerto rico). this one with Matt was by far the most fun and the most interesting.

What an incredible experience! My husband and I booked this private tour primarily because I was concerned about getting carsick based on so many warnings I had read. Matt, our guide drove slowly and made me feel so comfortable. His familiarty with the roads not only made me feel very safe, but he also knew hidden gems to stop for perfect photo ops. I would by no means consider myself a dare devil, yet on this tour I swam in a waterfall and explored 2 underground lava tubes, in addition to a few short hikes. Matt adjusted the agenda to fit our interests and encouraged us to go at our own pace. Also as enjoyable as the views, was talking with Matt and learning from his vast knowledge of Hana history. I swear that guy knew every tree, leaf and flower on the island. The science of the climate and geology. And the history of development of every bridge we crossed. It was a fascinating experience! Don't question whether you should book this tour. You absolutely should! And it will be the highlight of your trip!

We did the Half Way to Hana tour, which was half a day. We felt half a day was enough. Our guide Eli was terrific. Saw some amazing sites, waterfalls and had a really nice time.
