We had a wonderful time on the Food and Cultural Tour. I took my 85 year old Mom who grew up in Roanoke and has lived nearby all of her life. Our tour guide, Ned, gave a really interesting review of Roanoke's history - some of which were vaguely familiar to her and some of which filled in some missing gaps. In both cases, it was fascinating to learn about so many things I'd heard in the stories of my parents and grandparents... the N&W shops, the Viscos factory, the Ritz Hotel, the flood of '85. I could go on and on.
The tour would certainly be a nice introduction to people visiting the Roanoke area, but I'd highly recommend it to anyone who grew up in the area - to either learn more about your heritage or as a lovely way to reminisce.
Oh, and the food.... fabulous!!! We found at least 3 restaurants we intend to visit again!
