Rock & Roll Hall of Fame
Get that front row feeling for highlights of 30+ years of induction ceremonies. This epic hall of fame pays homage to our inductees through an immersive concert-quality production and a space for fans to share their own stories. Another milestone being celebrated is 50+ years since the start of Rolling Stone Magazine, the counterculture start up that rose to the top by covering the cross-section of music, politics and pop culture. Here's a short list of our permanent, featured exhibits that help us show off our collection: • Roots of Rock & Roll • The Beat Goes On: an interactive exhibit to show who influenced your fav band • Elvis • Legends of Rock: featuring Guns N' Roses, David Bowie, the Supremes, Metallica, Michael Jackson, Parliament Funkadelic and many more • Cities and Sounds: Motown, Psychedelic, Punk, Grunge... The unmistakable styles that put cities across the country and across the pond on the musical map. • The Beatles • The Rolling Stones • Jimi Hendrix

Wow! This museum is huge and has so much cool stuff. Lots of memorabilia including fashion, instruments, records, etc. Tons of amazing videos including induction speeches and performances. Instruments you can play--you can even jam with the in-house musicians! Good food. Not too crowded. Live performances outside. We drove 7 hours just to go and it was totally worth it! We spent 6 hours there and enjoyed every minute.

A must see of course for every (aging) rocker. Total time 5 hours for us. Everything from the instruments to the lyric sheets to the scrap notes and costumes from your favorite artists. Park at the science center garage to make it easy (<5 min walk) unless you find a meter on the street in the area. You will spend the majority of your time on level 0. The Beatles exhibit is worth the price of admission as the video screens are more than life size combined with surround sound. Several sets each with its own piece of the Peter Jackson movie. Arrived at 10 with the hordes, but then let them wash over us as we spent more time on the initial floor. The flow however is not well defined so there was a lot of 2 way foot traffic moving from exhibit to exhibit. Lots of momentos/paperwork/lyrics on scrap paper and the like. The biggest problem is that a lot of it is exhibited under what seems like a 20 watt light. I understand the need to protect the paper/ink but the pieces could be kept in the display cases and a digitized version could be shown on a large monitor. Many placards were too difficult to read (black ink on a black background). If you play an instrument, the Garage could be fun. Sit in with the house band for a number or try to play an instrument by yourself. The Wall exhibit was uninteresting as it was just that, a piece of the Wall, nothing else. The top floor had 4 different guitar rigs with videos talking about how the artists achieved the sounds that made them so identifiable. Find a place to eat as when we were there, there was one lonely food truck and the interior cafe had only 1 person working.

I was raised to appreciate all types of music from the big swing from my grandfather to the early years of Rock n Roll from my mom to even being educated by my children in the 2000's. I grew up during the 70's and big hair 80's. I can tolerate any song but rap and hip hop. I noticed some LEGENDARY artists who were very influential in the pop genre like Cher. I'm a so-so fan, but I believe she qualifies. Does SHE not want to be a part of history? I really enjoyed the ZZTOP and the Beatles displays. These were two of my favorite bands as a teenager. Now my kids are in their early 20's and my daughter actually said to me, "I really think it's great that you taught us to like all kinds of music." I had NO idea I was doing the same as my family! I understand things change with your displays all the time. That just means I can keep coming back!
