This epic hall of fame pays homage to our inductees through an immersive concert-quality production and a space for fans to share their own stories. Another milestone being celebrated is 50+ years since the start of Rolling Stone Magazine, the counterculture start up that rose to the top by covering the cross-section of music, politics and pop culture. Here's a short list of our permanent, featured exhibits that help us show off our collection: • Roots of Rock & Roll • The Beat Goes On: an interactive exhibit to show who influenced your fav band • Elvis • Legends of Rock: featuring Guns N' Roses, David Bowie, the Supremes, Metallica, Michael Jackson, Parliament Funkadelic and many more • Cities and Sounds: Motown, Psychedelic, Punk, Grunge... The unmistakable styles that put cities across the country and across the pond on the musical map. • The Beatles • The Rolling Stones • Jimi Hendrix

What’s a museum of this stature doing in Cleveland? The story is in the museum...but just an abbreviated version is a radio disc jockey began calling the 50’s music “Rock ‘n Roll”. The energy of this museum is magic! How about the architecture designed by I.M.Pei (architect of the entrance to The Louvre)? How about the major Rock stars memorabilia? And how about the Hall of Fame? All this in one location that you may spend an hour or all day with your admission ticket!

A buddy and I went to see the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland Ohio May 2nd. Lots of cool costumes on display! The history of the items was nice too. Even had the new inductees. Big selection of souvenirs. Price is pretty steep at $26 per person. We had a good time though.

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is a must visit at least one time if you're in Cleveland. Located on the Lake Erie waterfront in an imposing I. M. Pei building, it’s easy to get to and impressive in it’s content. It’s also an exercise in sensory overload! $24 will get a Senior Citizen in the door and under the near constant direction of a multitude of attendants who are mostly “hip” and helpful. The bulk of the activity is in the lower level, reached by an escalator and consisting of a winding route through hundreds of exhibit spaces. You’ll find film and video of R&R artists from the early 50s to the present, their instruments, their clothing, their album covers and anything else the Hall could obtain. If you have favorite artists, you can spend an hour just soaking up the images of their lives. But here’s my problem. I like many of the songs from the 50s and 60s and I enjoy hearing them well played. That you won’t get here. Nearly every space has video of the performers and speakers blasting their music. It’s not high fidelity and it’s in competition with the sounds from every other exhibit in the space. I’m 80 and I wear hearing aids. They’re good hearing aids thanks to the VA, but they don’t make it any easier to sort out the constant barrage of sound coming at you for however long you spend in the exhibit area. Two hours was more than enough for me.
