I want to make this clear: I am not discouraging anyone from visiting this place. This is DEFINITELY a place everyone must visit at least once when they pass through the Cleveland area, regardless of your views on rock and roll, and music in general.
I do, however, find this attraction a tad bit overrated, and would put it in the "one and done" category. The admission fee is a bit on the steep side, for one. For the amount of exhibits that are here (surprisingly, there is less than people may think here), it would be best to maybe reduce the price even by $5 (the adult admission fee was $30!). The overall museum felt like the bottom floor was filled with exhibits, and the upper floors were filled with others that took less than a few minutes to go through. While I still did come out of the museum having learned stuff about the history of rock and roll I never knew about, I felt as if the museum could have done a better job of organizing some of the exhibits more. Some of them felt rather "rushed", but a big plus was some of the interactive activities they had, such as learning how to play drum set, electric guitar, or piano. Those were a lot of fun! The gift shop was also quite nice with a variety of souvenirs to purchase.
The architecture here is great and is very photogenic. Looking from outside, you'd think you're in Paris at the Musée d'Louvre! The location is also quite ideal - it is located right on Lake Erie and is near some great restaurants and even a quick tourist stop - the Cleveland sign, a great place to get a picture with the Cleveland skyline in the background.
Parking also can be a bit on the pricey side - there are no parking garages near the museum, you need to park outside in the lots. Be aware that parking may be hard to find on game days when the Browns, Cavaliers or Guardians are playing (or any other event taking place in Downtown). It is also a little bit of a walk, but nothing too awful.
One thing I did want to mention is I came to the museum having purchased a university student ticket. A prompt on the website told me that I would need to present a valid form of ID to verify that I am a university student, but no staff member ever asked for such verification. Perhaps I was served by a staff member who "trusted" me, but if the majority of the staff at the Hall of Fame are like that, then that's very unfair to those who honestly paid for their tickets. That is something that needs to be looked at in my view. I know, it's a rather minor detail, but I do think that needed to be pointed out.
To summarize my review: definitely come check this place out if this is your first time in Cleveland or if you have never been here before, but leave it at that. This is a "one and done" kind of attraction that you will enjoy, but won't necessarily be blown off your shoes by.
