Although we were in Estes Park in mid-May we took the winter tour. Jeremiah (JJ) was our tour guide and he did an amazing job of providing information about the wildlife and trees/vegetation. We traveled through 2 ecosystems and he pointed out the differences between each. He was also more than willing to take pictures of my daughter and me with our phones. We saw the Alluvial Fan, Horseshoe Lakes, Sprague Lake, and various lookouts up to Rainbow Curve. We were also able to see elk, deer, and moose. Due to COVID we drove our own vehicles and traveled behind him in his van. I was nervous about driving my car up Trail Ridge Road but the roads were cleared up to 10,000 feet and I had no problem. He communicated with us via 2 way radio. I would recommend this tour as a starting point even if you want to venture out on your own. Our park passes and reservations were set up for us so it was super easy. The bonus is that we had a group that found common ground and enjoyed each other's company and that made it extra fun!
