Jeff is very well-informed about the history of the 1692 witch trials. He distills a plethora of information to the most important issues and players. He also shows how relevant the past is to the present.

My partner and I absolutely loved this tour which kicked off our first visit to Salem and set the perfect tone. Though we came with decent prior knowledge of the history regarding the witch hunts, our wonderful guide, Caroline, presented it from a unique lens that filled in a lot of the gaps in the history books, especially in terms of contextualizing the motives driving the various key figures involved. We especially appreciated the sensitive and thoughtful perspectives on both the accused women and men, as well as the young girls who made the initial accusations (something we've never encountered prior. They, too were victims of a messed up system.) The "why" is often more telling than the "what," and this tour offers a lot of well-grounded potential whys. Be prepared to take notes -- it's that interesting. As for other reviewers that complained there wasn't a lot to see in terms of actual sites -- that is because most of the original structures where these events took place are no longer standing. But Caroline offered very vivid descriptions and lively storytelling techniques to keep it entertaining, and you could easily envision how things must have been. She was also super mindful at every stop to check in with everybody and make sure she could be heard, which she could indeed by all every time. We'd highly recommend this tour as a perfect introduction to Salem. We're also very glad we did the noon tour on a Saturday as later in the day the streets were far more packed (and we hear nighttime is crazier still).

Factual guide that was entertaining while avoiding artificial drama and goofiness like other guides we passed.
