Join your local guide for a fascinating trip back in history as they share the story of Salem’s founding in 1626 by Puritans whose search for religious freedom ultimately ended in a wave of fear, suspicion, and anger that gripped Salem for one fateful year. I toured Salem with Maria yesterday, and had a wonderful experience! She is a local who is clearly passionate about sharing her city’s rich history. I spent 2 hours with her and left the tour really feeling like I had a much better understanding of the history of Salem, and the witch trial hysteria. I had a private tour, so we were able to go off the beaten path to see some parts of the town that are not on most tours. I enjoyed seeing the beautiful architecture and gardens. Maria also had great recommendations for restaurants, shopping, and other things not to be missed in Salem.

Maria gave a great tour. She obviously loves what she does and is full of interesting facts and stories about her home and it's inhabitants old and new. We got to see parts of Salem we wouldn't have found on our own and walked away with a much greater understanding of its past. The two hours absolutely flew by and she had no end of suggestions for other things to do and places to eat / shop for the rest of our time there. Can't recommend this tour enough.

For my first time visiting Salem, it was wonderful to have such an engaging and knowledgeable guide in Maria! Her love of the town comes through in not just the historical perspective but also her suggestions for food and shopping. I can’t recommend her highly enough!
