What To Expect
1
Coachella Valley Preserve
Here your adventure makes it's first stop at the 3rd largest Oasis in the world. Here you will walk over a bridge that straddles the actual faultline. 30 minutes are spent here where there is about a half mile trail you can optionally take with your guide. Restrooms are also located here before we venture far into the wilderness.
2
San Andreas Fault
We travel by Hummer into the mouth of a canyon that was formed by the San Andreas Fault. Here the adventure in your Hummer begins and we follow a road many Jeeps will need to return. 1.5 billion year old rocks are in this canyon that date back to the bottom of the Grand Canyon! The scenery is mind-bending as you see the tortured rock formations beneath the cobalt blue skies of the high desert.

A group of coworkers spent an afternoon with Jeff in the desert. He is so fun and knowledgeable. I am so happy to have had this experience.

We called in the morning and were able to book the afternoon tour. We met at the Morton's Steakhouse in Palm Desert and Josh was waiting for us. There was only one other couple on our tour so we had a great choice of seats. We had very high winds in Palm Springs today so we weren't sure what to expect from a ride. My husband and I sat in the back of the Hummer which luckily had a canvas roof over top and a windshield which cut down eaking on the wind from the front of the vehicle. We met the other tour that went out this afternoon and their Hummer had no roof over top and the people looked really cold so if it's a windy or cool day maybe ask which vehicle you will have. Josh was a great tour guide and told us a lot about the Coachella Valley area and what to expect from our tour. Our first stop was to the palm oasis on the San Andreas fault. We spent a good amount of time here on the boardwalk and in the visitor center. Our second stop was after our four wheel drive tour through the canyon. We didn't see any mountain sheep or other wildlife today other than a couple of young guys who decided to four-wheel drive their Ford Mustang only to get hung up on the road (so I guess we did see some wildlife). I definitely recommend taking layers of clothes as it gets very windy in the vehicle and cool in the mountains. Josh had blankets which we used to keep our legs warm and snacks and water for us. It was a great day and we both thoroughly enjoyed it.

We took the San Andreas fault your on Tuesday, Jan 8 and our guide was Josh. I had 3 girls with me age 9,13,17. There was also a couple from New York in our group. Pick up was on time. Let me say that Josh was like a walking Google or in my day encyclopedia! He was full of information that he shared along the way. The girls did laugh at his corney jokes. The girls said it was super fun even when we had a little mechanical issue. I highly recommended this company and tour. A great time had by all. We had jackets, but Josh had extra jackets and blankets. Also had a simple snack and bottled water for us to enjoy.
