What To Expect
1
Coachella Valley Preserve
Here your adventure makes it's first stop at the 3rd largest Oasis in the world. Here you will walk over a bridge that straddles the actual faultline. 30 minutes are spent here where there is about a half mile trail you can optionally take with your guide. Restrooms are also located here before we venture far into the wilderness.
2
San Andreas Fault
We travel by Hummer into the mouth of a canyon that was formed by the San Andreas Fault. Here the adventure in your Hummer begins and we follow a road many Jeeps will need to return. 1.5 billion year old rocks are in this canyon that date back to the bottom of the Grand Canyon! The scenery is mind-bending as you see the tortured rock formations beneath the cobalt blue skies of the high desert.

We had a great tour with Josh. He was very knowledgeable about the area and it's history. Be ready for some wind and cold air - we went out from 3:30-6:30 or so - perfect amount of time. The wildflowers were BOOMING! Highly recommend.

I was looking forward to seeing the San Andreas fault and also visiting an Oasis. The fault was a disappointment at the oasis. I also didn’t realize that both were at the same place. We could have visited it ourselves and saved some money. The ride in the Hummer was exciting and it was our first time in one. The drive through the canyons was also interesting. We did see some lovely wildflowers.Jeff was our guide and he offered to take many pictures of us. Listening to the music was fun since you really couldn’t hear Jeff over the noise while driving.

Jeff our "tour guide" offered a few interesting comments and then pretty much stopped talking. He played loud music to avoid questions for 3/4 of the tour. The San Andres fault portion of the tour was interesting but the time spent in the BLM area with at least 20 individuals sighting in their personal firearms and trash everywhere was a poor choice to conduct a tour of the area . Info listed online which included possible viewing of wildlife was extremely misleading. Seeing a "soaring eagle"...not a chance.
