Alex G. Was our tour Guide ! The best. Not only did he know all about the missions, he knew about the town. He dropped us off at the best Mexican restaurant. We will be back and will use Gray Lines for our tours. We will ask for Alex G. !

Domingo paced this trip just right! Touring the missions is a great way to see more of San Antonio than the Riverwalk. The architecture, people, and beauty experienced on this tour is well worth the half day. Trip bonus - no driving, no maps, and rest stops at each mission. Plus, our tour was on Sunday and mingling with parishioners attending mass was fantastic!

A must see to visualize what the Alamo would have looked like before being surrounded by modern day San Antonio. Excellent job by Domingo, our tour guide. We embarked on the afternoon tour with our 2 teenage boys, escaping the large crowds downtown for this enjoyable, relaxing, learning experience. Stopping at each location, we sometimes toured with Domingo leading us and at other times explored on our own. It was a perfect mix. The San Jose mission was our sons' favorite as they could explore at their pace all the exhibits and see the mission's footprint recreated. My favorite was the Aqueduct, a 5 minute look-see from the 1730s that was an engineering marvel. However, all the locations were worthy of a stop. The tour guide, a history major himself and born and raised in San Antonio, explained why these missions were built in these locations and connected them together with the history of San Antonio. ALAMO Tip + what to expect: We first visited the Alamo with our timed tickets for 10:20am and paid for the listening device tour. (money well spent) We finished at noon then went nearby for lunch and were picked up in front of the Emily Morgan hotel right next to the Alamo at 1:15pm for the tour. Domingo communicated with me through text letting me know when he would arrive. The tour finished shortly after 5pm. Two other families were with us. Our comfortable, air conditioned mini transit bus held 11 tourists. He provided cold water bottles after the hour tour at San Jose. It was a wonderful day and this tour was our favorite part of visiting San Antonio. TIP: We chose the Sunday afternoon tour since the morning tour might not have access to the inside of the churches because some missions still have Sunday morning masses. TIP If you are Catholic: We attended 9am Sunday Mass at the beautiful St. Mary's church downtown and then walked to the Alamo for our 10:20 am entrance time.
