San Diego Best of the Bay 2 Hour Harbor Cruise

Overview
Enjoy the best harbor tour on the San Diego Bay—with a professionally narrated harbor tour of more than 50 storied landmarks. We’ll cover over 13 miles on the Big Bay, passing by Seaport Village, Shelter Island, ship-building and dry-docking facilities, Coronado Island, Point Loma, and Cabrillo National Monument, among many others. As we sail, we’ll see delightful marine animals and majestic sea birds, and we’ll talk about what local environmental efforts are doing to protect them. You’ll have plenty of opportunities to capture all the sights in photos and video, and our fully stocked snack bar is always open.

We are fortunate to have beautiful outdoor decks that are available for sightseeing on San Diego Bay. We have great weather on the bay right now, we would just recommend you bring a hat, light sweater or jacket and of course your shades!

After a day on the MIDWAY next door, it was fun to take the two hour tour of the north and south harbors. The upper deck was crowded but I was lucky enough to find a seat and just enjoy the view. The guide pointed out areas of interest and historical facts. We did see some sea lions and the day was nice and clear. It was a reasonably priced tour and a chance to see San Diego from a different angle. We did the one hour north harbor tour and went back to the dock to unload people on the south harbor tour only and pick up people doing only the south harbor tour. I had expected one 2 hour tour without a return to harbor. I was a fun little adventure.

This is a BIG boat with concessions and lots of people. At first I was at the back of the boat and could not really hear the narration and could only see out on one side of the boat. I moved to the front (there were benches for maybe 6 people there) and could see and hear much better. The tour was interesting and informative and I enjoyed it once I moved to the front of the boat. I have to say I enjoyed the Swift boat tour at the Maritime Museum much more (there were only 6 people on the tour, it only cost $7.00 and everything was much more personal and it was much easier to see and hear). Don't get me wrong, this tour is worthwhile and interesting but a different experience with 100's of people on board.

Thank you for sailing with Hornblower Cruises! We are glad that you found the harbor cruise interesting and informative. We do have more intimate cruise options including our Dinner Cruise so hopefully the next time you are in town, you can give that cruise a try.

We enjoyed the chance to see all the naval yards around the bay. The first hour was pretty good with a lot of interesting information. The second hour was awful. The narrator talked really fast and dropped his voice at the end of a thought. He also lost his place several times and repeated information. He was difficult to understand and made several inane comments. The boat windows were very dirty. It was a beautiful day but few of my pictures were ok due to the filthy windows. We thought it was worthwhile as there is no other way to see so much. There was at least one other company that offered similar cruises. There are bath rooms on the boat but if you go early, the public restrooms are several blocks away. The reservation agent did not properly express the difficulty in parking. She told us to park on the adjacent dock. The lot is next door to the docked Midway aircraft carrier and s usually full. You may have to search for parking.
