Overview

Whale watching season is all year long in San Diego! Our team at Next Level Sailing provides the optimal experience with guides so experienced we received a 100 percent success rate during winter whale watching when spotting the King of the Deep.

We are one of the best outdoor activities to do in San Diego. Gray whale watching season spans from mid-December through April. Blue whales and fin whales are seen feeding in San Diego from April - August. Humpback whales and minke whales are seen throughout the year, particularly in the spring, summer, and fall. Aboard our 141-foot sailing yacht, the Yacht America, you will see a plethora of whales firsthand in their natural habitat. In addition to whales, we also see dolphins and sea lions, and an abundance of naval activity. Don't be surprised if you see an F-18 fly overhead!

The captain was great! Not only whale watching but also giving a tour of the bay as we were heading out. Very conscientious of safety both physical and health. They are trying to make sure that everyone enjoys the trip and stays healthy as well. We saw a blue whale right next to the boat and a large pod of dolphins. On the way in the captain talked about the animals we had seen . Very informative stuff. I highly recommend Next Level Sailing. Sailing on the boat was great. The whale and dolphins were an added bonus.

My experience with the next level sailing was incredible! From the moment you walk on the boat you feel like family. Extreme safety measures were in place. I didn’t come within 6 feet of one person the entire time I was on the boat. The captain and crew are very diligent about keeping everyone safe during this crazy time, while allowing your families to experience one of the most amazing sites that they will ever see in their entire lives! I honestly feel like my experience was better than it would’ve been if the boat has been at full capacity with 75 people. We had about 25 people in our group, which made the experience even more intimate!
