Overview

Whale watching season is all year long in San Diego! Our team at Next Level Sailing provides the optimal experience with guides so experienced we received a 100 percent success rate during winter whale watching when spotting the King of the Deep.

We are one of the best outdoor activities to do in San Diego. Gray whale watching season spans from mid-December through April. Blue whales and fin whales are seen feeding in San Diego from April - August. Humpback whales and minke whales are seen throughout the year, particularly in the spring, summer, and fall. Aboard our 141-foot sailing yacht, the Yacht America, you will see a plethora of whales firsthand in their natural habitat. In addition to whales, we also see dolphins and sea lions, and an abundance of naval activity. Don't be surprised if you see an F-18 fly overhead!

This is a top notch "sailing" adventure and the crew did a fantastic job. Lots of careful effort went into making sure everyone was Covid compliant and comfortable with the tour. The captain went over and beyond to make it possible for seeing the whales and other mammals.

Had a Great time. Captain and crew were awesome, they had a depth of knowledge of the Harbor and bay as well as the history of San Diego. Bring a lunch like subway or something in a cooler. They provided drinks and snack which were greatly appreciated and were included in the price, no worrying about having to be over charged for a drink or snack but a good sandwich goes a long way. We didn’t see any whales but saw 2 different species of dolphins which was cool. Never the less the gentle rocking of the boat was soothing and very enjoyable. My wife and I had a great time. Remember to bring sunscreen and use it. 😁

Absolutely loved this cruise! the staff was friendly, the ship was a sight to behold, and being so far away from land that you're surrounded by nothing but ocean is breathtaking! We unfortunately didn't get to see any whales, but that didn't make it any less enjoyable (we did get to see what looked like hundreds of dolphins). Even if they didn't have the whale watching guarantee, we would still do this again in a heartbeat. One thing to recommend - even with the most beautiful weather and cool ocean breeze, that sun can still be really strong... so ensure you put on some sunscreen.
