Overview

Whale watching season is all year long in San Diego! Our team at Next Level Sailing provides the optimal experience with guides so experienced we received a 100 percent success rate during winter whale watching when spotting the King of the Deep.

We are one of the best outdoor activities to do in San Diego. Gray whale watching season spans from mid-December through April. Blue whales and fin whales are seen feeding in San Diego from April - August. Humpback whales and minke whales are seen throughout the year, particularly in the spring, summer, and fall. Aboard our 141-foot sailing yacht, the Yacht America, you will see a plethora of whales firsthand in their natural habitat. In addition to whales, we also see dolphins and sea lions, and an abundance of naval activity. Don't be surprised if you see an F-18 fly overhead!

We loved our whale watching tour! We didn’t even see whales (although we can come back with their guarantee) and still had an amazing time. The crew was very Covid-sensitive and had social distancing on the boat all figured out. We felt incredibly safe and well-taken care of. The crew’s talk about the area was interesting set a good context - and seeing the sea lions, Navy seals in action and experiencing the big open sea and fresh air on a beautiful historic boat was a huge treat. Highly recommend!

Absolutely outstanding experience on the San Diego whale watching cruise. We didn’t even see whales and it was still so interesting and enjoyable it didn’t even matter (and it was guaranteed so we can come try again on another tour). The crew was incredibly thoughtful and respectful of Covid guidelines--we were in our own “doghouse” and separate from other passengers. Being out on the open sea on a gorgeous San Diego day, seeing the lazy sea lions and the fascinating military at work (Navy seals, aircraft and helicopters) and getting some valuable information from the captain & crew was more than enough. The America boat was in great shape and our 3 teen boys enjoyed it too. Just a great day - and to be safe and enjoy our beautiful ocean during this time is just priceless.

Great way to spend an after.. The staff is amazing. Clean and socially distant setting. Excellent service! This a great thing to do for couples,solo, friends and families.
