San Francisco Scavenger Hunt Adventure

Overview
Turn San Francisco into a giant game board with this fun scavenger hunt adventure! This challenge combines the excitement of the Amazing Race with a 3-hour city walking tour. Guided from any smart phone, teams make their way among well known and overlooked gems of the city, solving clues and completing challenges while learning local history.
The adventure begins in Yerba Buena Park and takes you on a well-designed course through Union Square, Chinatown, and then down to the waterfront. The tour requires approximately 2 miles of walking and uses the cable cars at one point in the game.
Using a smartphone as “the guide” allows participants to start when they want and determine their own pace of play. Stop for dim sum in Chinatown or an ice cream at the wharf… why not, it’s your schedule? Note: Pricing is per individual, but teams must book together in order to be included in the same adventure.

We visited SF with our 12 year old son who was visiting his friend. My son (neuro-diverse brain) learned of this scavenger hunt and thought this gave a purpose on seeing SF in a different way than just seeing things and taking photo ops. He likes that it was not guided and he could be more in control of timing and the experience. We all had a blast. It was a great way to see SF even if we had seen/been to some of these before. We got to work together. There was a level of competitiveness to get the answers right. We were able to pause when we went to eat and take breaks. These breaks were good especially as each person began to experience fatigue.

I chose this scavenger hunt because I needed to do something fun and interesting during shelter-in-place. I've lived in SF for over 5 years and even I learned from this hunt! There were so many interesting detours to places I know well, or at least I thought I did. I used to work down by Yerba Beuna, but I didn't know much about the area. I used to live in North Beach, but I couldn't have told you anything interesting about Chinatown! I learned so much. You'll certainly get your steps in as well. I totally recommend this adventure. 10/10.

So glad you learned some great stuff about your home city and had fun during the process!! It’s nice that these are all outside to allow for some fun while being safe.

We did the hunt with our kiddos who are 12 and 15. The hunt took us 3.5 hours. My husband and I loved it and got everything we could out of it. There are moments when the kids were over walking or just in it for the task at hand vs. seeing the big picture of looking at the whole park or the whole street, so that's to be noted if you're doing it with kiddos. They where ready to just get the next thing done and move on. Had my husband and I been doing it alone, we probably would have taken longer to shop in the cute areas and grab snacks along the way, etc. We had minor app problems but it was quickly resolved and we were able to have a great time as a family. I dont't really suggest it if you have smaller kiddos with a short attention span.
