We took Heritage Inspirations "Historic Architectural & Interior & Wine Tasting Tour" a week ago, Thursday, September 19. We were so fortunate to have Noah as our tour guide. He is charming, knowledgeable, and totally puts you at ease. We learned about the Pueblo Indians and their original shelters built of mud, earth and straw. And, later, the Spanish influence on Santa Fe architecture. We went inside the De Vargas Street House or "Oldest House" as well as the San Miguel Mission. After a stop at Kakawa Chocolate House...best hot chocolate we've ever tasted!!...we wandered over to the Canyon Road area. There we branched down beautiful residential streets. The pace of the tour over the three hours was not difficult at all...even for us retirees! Unfortunately we couldn't stay long for the wine tasting that concludes the tour back at the Hotel St. Francis as we were leaving to drive up to Taos that afternoon. My husband said the tour was his favorite part of our week-long stay in New Mexico. High praise indeed considering the many fascinating sights we were privileged to see over our seven days.
