Sarasota Guided Mangrove Tunnel Kayak Tour

Overview

There is a reason that the Mangrove Tunnels of Lido Key are a must-do experience when visiting the Gulf Coast. We launch from Ted Sperling Nature Park (190 Taft Dr Sarasota FL) which has clean restrooms, a rinsing shower, and shaded picnic tables. Our amazing local guides from Sea Life Kayak Adventures take you on a tour of Little Sarasota Bay, where you may see manatees, dolphins, a variety of birds and sea life...then finish up in the famous mangrove tunnels, a beautiful canopy that meanders thru an island. The tour usually goes around 2 hours, but we aren't on a strict schedule, so please allow for an extra half hour. We are located just minutes from downtown Sarasota, 20 minutes from Siesta Key, and a half hour from Anna Maria Island and Bradenton (add time for traffic during high season. We meet a HALF HOUR before our tours)

These guys are fantastic. We kayaked through the Sarasota Harbor at Longboat Key into the mangrove tunnels. We saw dolphins doing their mating dance, caught a brief glimpse of a manatee lounging under one of the jet ski launches, and were enlightened with factoids and anecdotal stories that had us laughing the whole way through by tour guide Chris. This gentleman was exceptionally instructive for a few members of our crew who were embarking on their native kayak voyage and still learning the ropes; pretty sure they were pros by the time we made it back to the launch site. I would definitely recommend giving this a whirl if you’re in the area. A great way to spend the the afternoon indeed. Recommend wearing swimsuit attire, as there is a small private beach amidst the mangrove “sea forest” where we took a little respite and checked out some spider crabs. Give this a go for sure. A respectful and heartfelt thanks to Chris for his knowledge and leadership!!!

Had a great time on our kayak tour with Ben. He was fun and knowledgeable - making sure we got to see some awesome sights in the water (dolphins, starfish, crabs). The mangrove tunnels were incredible! Really enjoyed the tour and definitely would recommend.

We reserved a guided kayak tour for 4 people and everything was absolutely fabulous from beginning to end. The tour itself lasted about 2.5 hours and we were able to see Dolphins, Manatees and a wide variety of birds and sea life. Our trip through the mangrove tunnels was really great and interesting. Ben, our guide, did an awesome job describing the various sites and went out of his way to help and reassure one of our group who was in a kayak for the first time. I would highly recommend using Sea Life Kayak Adventures.....and ask for Ben!!
